Rundgren Radio's first blog! FAQ about our shows.

    Welcome to the Rundgren Radio!

What is Rundgren Radio exactly?  Good question :-).  It's an online talk radio show that features special guests that have some type of connection with musician Todd Rundgren.  We also do a few shows featuring music or album reviews.  Shows typically start with announcements such as tour info, album updates, publication updates, and more.

When did Rundgren Radio start?  Our first show was August 29, 2007.

Are the shows just about Todd Rundgren? Not at all, but he is the common bond between all the guests.  Todd has been in the music business for over 40 years and has a vast network of connections so we have plenty of guests to invite on for a show.  We interview the guests about what they are doing currently and eventually delve into the past and the Todd connection.  Listeners call in throughout the show to ask questions.

What if I can't call in during a show but would like to ask a question?  Not a problem.  Just send your question to rundgrenradio@earthlink.net .  We can't guarantee we will ask it, but most of the time we do ask the questions we receive via e-mail.

How long do the shows last?  2 hours is the maximum time and most of the guests stay with us that long, but sometimes time commitments of the guests will shorten the shows.  We rarely have a show last less than an hour.

What if I miss a live show?  Not a problem.  All the shows are permanently archived right here at BTR on our host page!  The only way to participate in our chat room is during a live show though and you must register with BlogTalk to be able to type in the chat room.

When do the shows air?  Every Tuesday night at 8:30pm ET with rare exception.  To keep updated just check the site or have BTR send you a reminder notice -- you can sign up for that service here and it's free.

Who hosts the shows?  Most of the shows are hosted by Doug, the founder of Rundgren Radio, and co-host CruiserMel, a member of the Rundgren Radio team.  We've had a special guest host once -- Michele Rundgren.

Does Todd know about this show?  Sure.  Rundgren Radio is not officially affiliated with Todd Rundgren or his management, etc. and has never asked to be.  This is a fan based show and not a business.  As you can see by the photo on our home page of Todd wearing a RundgrenRadio.com t-shirt, he seems to approve of what we're doing.

Has Todd ever been on a Rundgren Radio show?  (Updated 7/1/08) Yes, he was our special guest for an over hour long epic interview that included great questions from several fans (aired 6/21/08).  He visited us again later to discuss his Arena CD and tour (aired 09/25/08).  Todd has also been on two other times for a little while when his wife Michele was a special guest.  In fact,  this show was the first place where Todd announced his Summer '08 band lineup!  By the way, we have to mention we LOVE MICHELE :-)!  She has been a tremendous asset to the show.

I'm an avid Todd fan and would like to help out Rundgren Radio, what can I do?  The most important thing is to help spread the word to Toddheads and music fans so they can listen and enjoy it like you do.  Some other things that can help are adding us as a favorite here, rating each show here, adding us as a friend here and on myspace (/rundgrenradio) and Facebook, and adding this archive autoplay banner to your websites and myspace:

But most of all, the best thing you can do is listen to the shows, participate in the chat room, and call in to talk to our guests if that's something you're comfortable with.

Is it true the founder of Rundgren Radio hasn't been a Todd fan that long?   Yes and No.  Prior to 2006, Doug had been a Todd fan since the late 70's but mostly as a fan that was really into the "Greatest Hits" albums and a few others like "Nearly Human", "2nd Wind", and "Hermit of Mink Hollow".  The songs "Can We Still Be Friends" and "Parallel Lines" roped him when he first heard them in the early 80's.

In 2006, Doug went to see The New Cars featuring Todd Rundgren at Chastain Park in Atlanta, GA.  After the show he knew it was time to give more of Todd's music a try and to stop pre-judging it based on the album covers and his lack of knowing about any of the songs.  In his quest to find out more about Todd's music, he stumbled across TRconnection.com and his eyes were opened to all kinds of things about Todd and his music.

Doug has always been upfront about his Todd story and knows he missed a lot during the primetime of Todd's career, but he's doing all he can to get caught up and taking you on the journey with him.  His primary purpose during the shows is to be a facilitator of conversation.  Whether your a brand new Todd fan or a fan for many decades, you will learn something from the guests on the shows and that's the important thing.

Is Rundgren Radio making money using Todd's name and popularity?  Absolutely not.  This show does not currently produce any revenue.  If it does in the future through BTR's new ad program the money will go right back into the show for things like promotions or giveaways.

Todd who?  LOL.  If Todd fans had a $1 for everytime they heard that question they'd all be extremely wealthy.  For a quick Todd history lesson, visit his Wiki page at:
