Call in to speak with the host
Show hosts and visual artists Mike Dubisch, Wade Zahares, and Carolyn Watson Dubisch interview artists from all walks of life. Our first guest, Michael Nelson has had a lifelong love of art and comic books, and a pursuit to create, publish, and market his own comic book creations. He's also a designer for all things print and web and has been working in the industry for over 10 years. He was creative director at Zedura Magazine, art director at Up North Trading Company, and cofounder at Carpet Bob Comics. He currently is the lead artist and designer at 50 Foot Robot Studios and is working and living in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Next we'll be speaking with life long Maine resident , Caren-Marie Sargent Michel. She studied painting with Esther Barney in Portland, Maine for six years and received her B.F.A. in painting from Portland School of Art. She often portrays a location through series capturing different seasons or times of day with changing light and color. Many of Michel's paintings incorporate collage. She has been represented by Jameson Gallery in Portland, Maine. You can see her luminescent landscape paintings at the new Mercy Hospital Fore River building's main lobby in Portland,. Michel is represented by North Light Gallery in Millinocket and Carver Hill Gallery in Rockland, Maine. Also on the show will be Rebecca Hicks, creator of the book and web-comic series "Little Vampires". In her own words "'The Little Vampires' came from a random comment my husband made about his diabetes, about his finger tips, because he's always checking his blood sugar so he's like 'Yeah, my fingers look like they are being nibbled by little vampires." They are cute little vampires no more that 6 inches or so high says Hicks. is they're literally little vampires. They try really hard to be like big and fierce vampires and they fail spectacularly at it."
