Journalist, poet and performance artist Mike Marcellino talks with writers who read from their work. This shows guests: Caitlin McCarthy, an award winning screenwriter and inner city high school English teacher with two screenplays under development: "Resistance" with director Si Wall("Marabella Nights") and "Wonder Drug" with director Tom Gilroy ("Spring Forward"); Hollace M. Metzger, Paris/NYC poet, architect & author of "Why the WilloW (2010); Bob Holman, poet, performance & spoken word artist, dubbed "NYC poetry czar" by Village Voice; and Barry Brodsky, Eric Small & Dean B. Kaner, who collaborated over the internet to write "Boys of Winter," a play about the cost of the Vietnam War in the lives of three Minnesota hockey players, staged by Boston Playwrites' Theatre. Mike, a two-time national award winning newspaper reporter, interviews an eclectic mix of writers about their writing and lives, takes calls from listeners and reads his own stuff. An Army war correspondent, he first wrote poetry and prose during mortar & rocket attacks in Vietnam. He likes to surf and the film "Viva Zapata" with Marlon Brando. Co-host Natalie Bliss, a poet, writer and artist from Auckland, New Zealand, likes Leonard Cohen, animals, rugby and teaches grade school kids art. Mike reads poetry songs, including those recorded recently by his new folk band Mike Marcellino with Ensor.
