The Robert Harding Show

Covering issues impacting New York State with host Robert Harding, a blogger with The Albany Project.

  • On Demand Episodes

    Date / Time:

Notes from conference call with Spitzer

    Conference call with Spitzer, Gunderson

    Marty Mack- recent report card

    Discuss it a bit

Hearing a lot from the counties

    Counties “f” grade

Gov. speak, Dan Gunderson (ESDC- Upstate)

    Governor, Gunderson

    Gov. Spitzer

First response: BCNYS report card similar to yours – we know there are problems

Very open to the reality, don’t shy away from “bad facts”

    Conclusion

    Major issue

    Nature of the problem

“F” grade allotted to many counties

    Suggests abject failure

Can’t dig your way out of it

That’s not right either… not here to quibble with methodology

    F deeper than I would’ve imposed

    Either you exceed or underperform

0-5, get an “F”, The way they did the analysis was a little rigid

enormity of the problem overstated, any articulation

reflective of a decade where things weren’t going well

    fundamentally different

    20% cut in Worker’s Comp ($1 billion)

    Real property ($1.3 billion)

$50 (b)million cut in business taxes?

    Thousands of jobs retained ESDC

Private sector job growth accelerating (23,000 p. sector employment jobs, 2:1 in past years)

Continue to work with you. Voices in the regions that matter. You know the transactions that are in the pipeline.

    Constantly looking for deals, transactions

One final note: We are realists. We are not denying that things for many years were not good. One more in a series of wake-up calls. If it’s been offered to us, we’ll accept it. I have never seen a successful coach speak negatively. No coach never succeeded by being a predictor of doom.

    Don’t be eeyore, be piglet

  • Date / Time:

    Today's show: 9/6/07

On today's Open To The Public Radio, I will be discussing the jail project and the "hidden" costs that people tend to forget. If you will to call in, please dial 1-646-716-8492 during the show. Also, feel free to e-mail me at robert.harding22@gmail.com with any questions or comments you may have.

The jail project is an important topic to discuss, so we will spend the whole hour discussing the jail. This will probably the most important show you listen to, so do tune in!

    Thanks.
