The Rising Apple Report stops in for its eighth episode, as we chat about the latest news and rumors regarding our beloved New York Mets, and welcome on another special guest. Matt Musico will once again take the hosting reins, as he’s joined by Senior Staff Writer Michael Lecolant and Staff Writer Rich Sparago for a jam-packed half hour of Metsian conversation.

We’re pleased to have Taryn Cooper (or “The Coop” as she’s also referred to) on the show to talk about her experience blogging, as she’s spent eight years providing her opinion on various sports. You can find Coop’s work in a few places, as she contributes to Metsmerized Online and Kiner’s Korner, while most of her passionate opinion can be found on A Gal for All Seasons.

Now that we’re about a week and a half into Spring Training and the Mets are slated to start playing games this weekend, we’ll also see what Coop thinks the Amazins can accomplish this season, and whether or not she’s upset Scott Hairston signed with the Cubs (since a picture of her and him currently occupy his Wikipedia page).

Were the Mets wrong to officially deny Johan Santana’s request to participate in the World Baseball Classic, or was this decision the right one?

Daniel Murphy is headed to New York to get his intercostal injury checked out. Will this injury hamper Murphy’s preparations for 2013?

There are plenty of people that aren’t expecting much from the Mets this season, but Terry Collins decided to nip that in the bud with his speech to the club Monday. Will it work? Did it hit home with the players? Come listen to see what we think.
