Rebel is defined as person that rises up in opposition against an established entity. There are 2 sides in a rebellion: (1) One side has what the other side needs or wants, (2) the other side fights to get what they need or want. The one who is rebelling is often trying to satisfy reasonable needs or wants, but they often choose maladaptive actions and behaviors to try to satisfy their needs or wants. This is something that educators and parents have difficulty understanding when working with children / adolescents that present behavior problems.
Rebels will be a series that will discuss children / adolescents that present behavior problems and their role as rebels against educators and parents. While their rebelling actions and behaviors may be misguided or destructive, this series is going to first provide awareness and insight for learning more about why children / adolescents rebel.
