Ride! guests for February, March, April 2008:
Feb. 13 - Cyril Huze
The work of the celebrity custom motorcycle designer and builder has graced the pages of many magazines. Huze was inducted into the IMBBA (International Master Bike Builders Association) Hall of Fame in 2006 where he joined such fellow luminaries as Arlen Ness, Matt Hotch, and Dave Perewitz. Ride! will highlight Huze's career and examples of his two-wheeled designs that are best described as rolling art. (www.cyrilhuze.com)
Feb. 27 - flash gordon, m.d. (his real name and it’s spelled in lower case)
‘Doc flash’ is known as the Motorcycling Doctor. For years he dispensed practical medical advice, along with a good dose of humour, through his 'Medical Motorcycling' column in Motorcycle Consumer News. Ride! will talk to the doc with the superhero name about Blood, Sweat & 2nd Gear: More Medicine for Motorcyclists, a collection of those columns. (www.docflash.com)
Mar. 12 - Emilio Scotto
The Argentinian-born motorcycle adventurer is best known for his incredible 2007 book, The Longest Ride: My 10-Year 500,000 Mile Motorcycle Journey. He’s been shot at, imprisoned, suffered serious illness, and literally come within a hair of being served up for supper by cannibals. Scotto describes his Guinness World Book record-setting ride, and his upcoming around-the-world project, on the show. (www.emilioscotto.com)
Mar. 26 - Suzanne Ferriss & Steven Alford, International Journal of Motorcycle Studies (IJMS)
The IJMS is dedicated to the study and discussion of motorcycling culture in all its forms. Editor and Associate Editor, respectively, will talk about their insights from a forthcoming book, Motorcycle: Design, Identity, Images, Aesthetics, that reveals the role of the motorcycle and our fascination with it. (www.ijms.nova.edu)
Apr. 09 - Clement Salvadori
The popular motojournalist has shared his stories from the road with the readers of Rider magazine since 1988. His journey-as-destination writing is filled with the rhythm of the road, the music of the bike, and the characters met along the roads less travelled. Salvadori will share some of those experiences from his latest book, 101 Road Tales, with Ride! listeners. (www.ridermagazine.com)
Apr. 23 - Jordan Szoke
Szoke finished the 2007 Parts Canada Superbike Championship by winning both Superbike and Supersport championship titles. He’s only the fourth rider to win back-to-back Canadian Superbike Championships and the second to claim the title more than three times. Szoke will talk about his career and what’s ahead for him in 2008. (www.cdnsuperbike.com)
