ERNEST ANGLEY: SAINT OR SCOUNDREL? This episode is Part 2 in our series on healing from church abuse with ex-members from Grace Cathredral Angelia Oborne, Kenny Montgomery, Becky Robinson, Mimi Camp.  ERNEST ANGLEY, now 95, has been one of the most famous televangelist faith healers since coming to Akron, Ohio in the 1950's and building his Grace Cathedral.  His style has been lampooned and he has been impersonated by comics such as Robin Williams.  He claims to have an angel beside him when he preaches, to live free from sin, and to heal fatal diseases, even claiming to cure AIDS which resulted in complaints and controversy. We learn more about the secret backstage world of televangelist faith healer Ernest Angley. Some of the issues we will explore are (Partial List):

Arranged marriages, abortions and vasectomies encouraged by "God's prophet."

Angley's healing line and miracle claims.

Angley's fascination with Hollywood.  To what degree are showmanship and acting involved?

The associates around Angley and their imitation of him.

What happens when people come to a church to be healed, and end up hurt instead?  How can they heal from this experience mentally and spiritually?  What are the differences between healthy and unhealthy churches and spiritual leaders?  Richard Rossi and ex-members will share their own pain, crisis of faith, and journey of recovery.

Joining us in the 2nd half of the program is Dr. Marlene Winell, a therapist who is the foremost expert in leaving and recovering from an abusive church. Dr. Winell coined the term "Religious Trauma Syndrome" and is the author of the book "Leaving the Fold."

Richard Rossi is making a new movie contrasting a con artist preacher with genuine faith. For more information, visit http://www.gofundme.com/CanaanLand
