A Life Journey

Connecting to others through the love of God.I command you to love each other in the same way that I love you.And here is how to measure it--the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their friends. John 15:12-13 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; [fn] but if I didn't love others, I would be of no value whatsoever. Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown languages [fn] and special knowledge will all disappear. 1 Cor. 13

    Date / Time:

Why did god say He was sick of the sacrifices being offered by the Israelites (Isaiah 1:11-14)?

The people of Israel were outwardly religious but inwardly rebellious. Rather than obeying God from their hearts and faithfully keeping His covenant, they modified their religious practices to suit their own desires. The result was an eclectic, idolatrous hodgepodge in which the Holy One of Israel (the prophet's favorite name for God) was barely acknowledged. God's strong indictment (delivered through the prophet) read: "They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. And their worship of me amounts to nothing more than human laws learned by rote" (Isaiah 29:13 NLT)

For these reasons, God told the Israelites to stop their useless, hypocritical behavior. We cannot serve two masters, either you love one and hate the other.
