One of my favorite poems in Cindy Parker's recent release Corundum - Facets of Life is called Snow Tide.

                Snow Tide

            "I want it to stop

            anesthetizing me and

            to feel the sun peel

            awake my eyes in

            even the icy brine and

            winter's sea outside."

What do these words mean to you? It is one of my favorite things about poetry. You can read a poem ten times and depending on where you are in life that poem will carry many meanings, will hit you in a different and meaningful way each time. Cindy Parker writes about life, love, loss, and the struggles of faith. Her poems are most personal to her and yet the reader can easily reinterpret them to fit a moment in their life.  Corundum is the kind of book that will sit on the bedside table and give you solace, raise your spirits, and make you smile as you read the words of the author.

Cindy has managed to touch my heart with her words once again. I highly recommend Corundum for anyone who loves the written word.
