In this program, guest Jaydee Sperry (associated with The Matrona certified mid-wifery program) and I take a deeper look at the rising instances of opiate and heroin related deaths, including suicides, among young Americans. We will explore a possible relationship to birth trauma and suicide risk. We are both curious about the type of birth trauma being reflected in the chosen method of suicide, which supports a deeper, unconscious correlation between disruptions in natural, non-medicalized birth.
Women in the United States are increasingly accepting a medicalized version of giving birth, a process that's been natural and completely within the domain of women, and wise women elders for thousands of years. When women accept a medicalized birth process without a life-threatening emergency being the reason, what future harm are we exposing our newborns to in later life?

Birth is a natural, powerful, and blissful process in which a mother's biochemistry of love and wholeness co-creates her infant's biochemistry of vulnerable connection and maternal bonding. What happens when this natural biological resonance is disrupted? Birth trauma for mother, for infant, or both?

I am a personal development coach. I have been coaching as a hobby for a while and decided to become serious about it when I saw talented, skilled and resourceful, people doubt themselves and not give themselves or their dreams a chance. I started my own business shortly after someone I cared about took their own life. This person, like many others, wanted to travel and see the world but was held back by their own demons.
I've had enough of sitting by the sidelines and not doing something MORE ACTIVE to shake people out of their slumps. I want your listeners to know they can go out there make it happen for themselves, in way that makes sense for THEM. "Travel" can seem so huge to those thirsty for it. I want these folks to know that that shouldn't stop them. That it is something that is oh-so-doable, and that they can do it in a way that is unique to their needs. The clients I have coached with this issue are now some of my most daring clients. I would love to bring that to your listeners.
Take more than a vacation now!

For the first time since 2009, Boston College baseball made the NCAA Tournament. Earlier in the year, we talked with Mike Lananna of Baseball America about what it would take for the Eagles to become one of the 64 best teams in the nation. A few months later, we've found the answer to that question as Birdball heads to Oxford, MS to take on Tulane in the first round on Friday.
From the word go, WZBC's TJ Hartnett's had a front row seat to the Birdball season. He sits down with our Dan Rubin, who's also been there from the beginning, to talk about the Eagles, breaking down their pitching, their offense, what makes them dangerous, and how they'll adapt to playing at Ole Miss. They also talk about the team's adaptation to the new media coverage and how this can lead to a new day of BC Birdball in the mainstream.
The Eagles take on Tulane in the NCAA First Round, then face either the winner or loser of the Ole Miss-Utah game. It's heralded as one of the toughest regionals in the nation, but BC is very much a part of it!
