When you go through the gauntlet is when you should put more emphasis on your commitment to the relationship. Also, most women (especially black American women) will NOT pour out support to their man if he shows some signs of experiencing fear and uncertainty: 99.999999% of the time they will turn on him and kick him while he's down instead of supporting him and helping him get back on his feet.

People nowadays just do not want to commit because commitment requires some effort: commitment is like taking a car regularly to the shop for oil changes, maintenance, and inspection. All of that takes time and effort.
