Author, Medical Director and Founder of the Pressman Center for Mind/Body Wellness, Clinical Professor Emeritus at Temple Medical School in Psychiatry and Chairman Emeritus of the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Dr. Maurie Pressman will join us today as our special guest speaker.  His statement on Co-Dependency is this:

"Co-dependency or addiction are outgrowths of the way we work as personalities, and the "cure" arises from knowing the self and calling upon the magnificent power of the soul-within. That is why it is so good and so important to know one’s self. The next thing is that there are transactions between people under all circumstances, and a dynamic equilibrium is established and maintained, unless some crisis comes along. In the case of co-dependency we mean that there is a transaction between partners in which one personality is adjusted to the other – and maintains the pattern of the other for good or bad. In  the case of addiction it is for the not-so-good as far as society is concerned, for it leads to a debilitation on the part of the addict both by the addicting drug and  the withering of personal strength by being overly supported by the sponsor."
