I'm gonna stop the subsidy to PBS. I'm gonna stop other things," Romney said. "I like PBS, I like Big Bird, I actually like you too." FEMA- Federal Emergency Management Agency begun the claims process; residents of the affected areas in the Gulf Coast are being asked to complete and submit online claim forms for lost of damages. The quick turnaround should be a good and viewed as positive however this leaves most residents angry, frustrated and confused…they are being told to complete on-line claim forms so they can file claims and receive benefits however they DO NOT HAVE POWER…NO ELECTRICTY...FOR TWO WEEKS. FEMA and other insurance agencies have set-up the on-line claim forms to simplify the process…but for whom? LET’S TALK AMERICA Does America really put its citizens first? Was Katrina publicized because it affected New Orleans unlike Isaac that affects parishes surrounding New Orleans?  Why is that? Whose brilliant idea was it at FEMA to ask residents who do not have power/electricity to complete on-line claim forms? A few months back The Department of Labor and Justice announced the availability of approximately $12 million in grants to provide "workforce development and support services" to formerly incarcerated females as they move out of prison and back into their communities. The Justice Department says "If people are unable to secure jobs when they are released from incarceration, they cannot support themselves or their families – and there’s an increased chance that they will return to a life of crime," The blog also noted that for participants in the Labor Department’s Reintegration of Ex-Offenders program, the recidivism rate is just 14 percent -- far lower than the national average.  Thousands of formerly incarcerated nonviolent offenders are routinely denied access to employment, housing, education, public benefits and jury duty. LET’S TALK AMERICA… Access to the ballot box is a basic democratic right…should former offenders be given the opportunity to vote for elected officials? Should those basic rights be reinstated upon their release? If not, are their civil rights being violated? With the unemployment rate stuck on high, and with jobs a main concern of the American electorate, the current administration says it will spend $12 million to help ex-cons find employment. Is this fair to the Americans who have never committed a crime, are unable to find steady employment, are financially strapped, and whose resources are tapped out in this economy?
