    Embracing Ourselves

These past few months have been a truly amazing and blessed journey for me.  I have met and connected with some awesome, beautiful, intelligent, strong women who have both weathered and conquered many storms in their lifetime.  I have been touched by the heartfelt lyrics of various artists and authors and I have been moved by the need for our testimonies about our life experiences to reach others and help them overcome and make it through their own turbulent times.

There are things that I have not shared yet about my own life and childhood in regards to the many testimonies that I've blogged via myspace or the articles that have been circulated via the websites of other Christian ministries through the years.  Mainly because some of those things were hard for me to touch if anyone can feel where I'm coming from.  Also, not everything happened directly to me but to someone else whom I love dearly.  Nevertheless, everything that I have been exposed to or experienced or told of by those closest to me, affected my growth and development as a woman.  It affected my self-esteem and the way that I valued and loved myself, it affected my relationships with men, friends and family and it also affected the thoughts that I carried around with me in my mind.

How many of you recall where in the Bible it states that our flesh is constantly at war with our spirit? Do you remember the title of Joyce Meyer's book "The Battlefield of The Mind"? What about this line from the Bible, "for as a man thinketh, so he is."  We as women are constantly surrounded by images of the ideal beautiful woman thanks television and other forms of media, our western culture in the United States and what we think will make us more attractive and interesting to others.

A lot of us have grown up watching abuse take place in our homes, have experienced it first hand and maybe even terrified that our children may also one day become victims or abusers.  These things are called generational curses, strongholds and bondages.  Before we can break the links of these types of spiritual and natural chains we must first come to a place in our lives where we learn to heal from our past and our hurts and we decide that all of these spiritual and natural plagues end with us.  We are the generational curse breakers and we are also perfectly and wonderfully made by a God who loved us and knew us before he formed us in our mother's womb.  God gave us life and through us he also allows us to continue to bring life into this world.

Most assuredly more often than not, regardless of how much or how little you may work in today's society or in business or whatever it is that you do with the majority of your time, if you are married with or without kids you are more than likely the person who sets the environment and tone in your home and personal life.

We are natural multi-taskers who can simultaneously think about and do many things at the same time without even realizing that we are.  We instinctively know how to care for others and tend the wounds and hurts of those we love and we are always putting others first before ourselves, even when it hurts us.  Is this always a good thing?

There are a lot of things that we as women can discuss with each other, encourage and uplift one another about.  Let us come together and lift our voices high and embrace our lives joyously without fear or trembling and walk into a life of solitude, joy, many blessings and peace.

I look forward to having Real Talk with all of you.

    Peace & Blessings Always – Violet B
