Andrew's Predications For The Second Round

After going 7-for-8 with his first round picks (he had Blazers over Rockets), Andrew is back to list he predictions for the second round of the NBA playoffs.

Jeff was 7-for-8 as well, also having been fooled by Portland/Houston.

Magic over Celtics in Seven - Paul Pierce says that he isn't tired about seven heavyweight games against the Bulls, but I don't believe him. If Kevin Garnett returns, which I could see happening, I probably shift this to Celtics in Six. The loss of Courtney Lee is really going to hurt the Magic, unless J.J. Redic shoots the lights out. The big key will be whether or not Kendrick Perkins can contain Dwight Howard.

Cavaliers over Hawks in Five - Cleveland proved in their sweep of Detroit that they aren't screwing around. The Hawks don't have a defender that can truly matchup and lock down LeBron, and that's really all that needs to be said about this series. Atlanta will need Al Horford and Mike Bibby to play extremely well in order to extend this season past five games.

Nuggets over Mavericks in Six - The Nuggets are playing their best basketball of the season at the perfect time, having disposed of Chris Paul's Hornets in five very quick games. I have a leg up because Game 1 has already been decided, but I honestly would have gone Denver in Six either way. If they keep playing at their current level, this series could be over in five and the Lakers could have a tougher road to the Finals than expected.

Lakers over Rockets in Five - What Houston did in the first round against Portland without Tracy McGrady was cute, but Los Angeles is a different beast. There is really a better "team" in the league right now than the Rockets, but the Lakers are good enough to knock off even the most cohesive unit. If Artest and Battier give Kobe fits, maybe this pushes to a sixth game.
