Edward Archer, a 30 year old Muslim, said he acted in the name of Islam, when he fired eleven shots at Philadelphia Police Officer, Jesse Hartnett, who miraculously survived the attack.

Homicide Captain James Clark, confirmed the fact that Archer said he acted in the name of Islam.

Yet, in another press conference, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said in reference to the shooting, “It’s terrible and it does not represent the religion in any way, shape or form or any of its teachings. And this is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers, has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith. That is abhorrent. It’s terrible and it does not represent the religion in any way, shape or form or any of its teachings.”

No, Archer had nothing to do with Islam. He was dressed like a Muslim, and was yelling Allah Akbar when he shot Officer Hartnett. Islam had absolutely nothing to with it.

Archer’s subsequent confession to police officers that he conducted the assassination attempt on behalf of the Islamic State also had nothing to do with Islam.

Mayor Kenney’s outrageous comments are indicative of a trend among liberals to blame any Islamic inspired terrorist attacks on the Second Amendment, or anything else, other than the real culprit, Islam.
