Earl Lewis started composing songs (e.g The Gleam In Your Eye) at age 10 and singing at age 15  - first with the Lotharios and then with his original Channels group in 1956.The group initially consisted of Earl Lewis, Larry Hampden,Billy Morris, Edward Dolphin,and Clifton Wright. Their recording career (with several personnel changes) spanned 1956 to 1959 on the Whirling Disc,Gone,Fury,and Fire record labels

Today, Earl Lewis sings his signiture song, "The Closer You Are" as well as other hits and collector favorites such as "My Love Will Never Die", "Thats My Desire", and "My Heart Is Sad"
