Call in to speak with the host
Auburn Tigers linebacker Daren Bates helped his team snag the national championship in 2010, and went on to win the school’s Zeke Smith Award as top defensive player three years later. Nonetheless, he wasn’t invited to the NFL scouting camp upon graduating. How frustrating was that? “At first I was mad, but then it added more fuel to my fire. I know I played hard, I know I dominated. There’s nothing that can keep me down,” he tells The Bottom Line Sports Show host Gerald Brown. Looking ahead, Daren has a message for head coaches and general managers thoughout the NFL: “On and off the field, you’ll never have to worry about any kind of trouble from me. You know you’re gonna get my full game when I step on the field. I’m a great player who brings a different level of tenacity to the game—and a level of excitement that the fans have never seen before.”
