Rolling Stone called the album “a spectacular showcase of suave, muscular gospel-powered singing, heavily influenced by Sam Cooke, with a joyous, shrieking falsetto that became Tate’s trademark.” Janis Joplin also performed Get It While You Can during her career. His newest CD, “Blue Day,” a scorching hot return to his R & B and Blues roots, is now out on the Evidence Music label. At the club Bernie also played behind Big Mama Thornton and Freddie King (the latter archived on Wolfgang's Vault). Along the way, Bernie started his Nothin' But the Blues radio show on L.A. FM radio in the '60s and went on to be one of the key founders of what is know known as the Long Beach Blues Festival. He recorded with Harmonica Fats and last year released his own double CD Old School Blues that received worldwide reviews and airplay.
