When broken down to their essence, beliefs are little more than thoughts that have gained power through repetition. But they can become incredibly powerful, highly influential forces in our lives. They direct the course of our lives whether or not we are conscious of them.
Beliefs may be individually based or passed to us through our families, environments, cultures, or media. However the belief is formed, once it is in place, whether fact, fiction or otherwise, it frames the perception of truth, and the perception of truth then determines one's reality in a given moment, a particular time period, or even for a lifetime. We can spend entire lifetimes with beliefs that are contrary to our desired state of being, never understanding the tremendous impact they have on our general well-being and happiness.
