About Owen: “I have worked with men and women for 35 years in a private practice that consisted of Rolfing and somatic psychotherapy. I owned and ran a holistic medical clinic in Scottsdale, AZ for 17 years doing research with Arizona State University and elite athletes. I co-founded the Scottsdale Institute of Health and Medicine which operated the premiere Mindfulness Stress Reduction Program in the company.

 

For the last 15 years I have focused on men issues and men’s groups. Seven years ago I started Sandpoint Men Groups where I have taught other men to lead deep groups as part of developing micro-communities and learning empathy. I'm getting ready to publish my book: Grow Up, Guys – Your 9-Step Path to Releasing the Remarkable Man Inside You.

 

The more I study and develop the model of shifting men through men’s groups, the more I see its power in its simplicity. Just as the open source model is now an integral part of the Internet so can men’s groups and their micro-communities be in transforming our problems on a core level.

 

We won’t have an empathetic world without empathetic men. Men have the capacity to teach each other the lost art of empathy. There is no better place for men to learn Empowered Empathy than in the micro-community of a men’s group.
