Cornelia Brown author of the famous book" Black and White makes Brown. Cornelia is also a new director for the Atlanta Chapter of A Place For Us National and her group is called Brown Sugar. Cornelia is taking her books on the road as she also promotes the new donar drive A Place For Us National has taken on in memory of 11 year old Star of Disney's The Lion King on Broadway, Shannonn Tavarez,who died a little over 2 months ago. We will be doing events to raise funds for research for a cure of this very rare leukemia that Biracial Children are dying from. Anyone you know who has mixed race children or grandchildren of any skin color, please have them get involved in our efforts. We are doing Donor Drives with swabs that will be taken to send to the donor bank to see if anyone is a match for anyone in need of stem cell transplants. There is also a call for preganant moms to give their non intrusive embilical cord after birth to this cause. Umbilica cords have a high nutritinal value and rich stem cells that could be a cure for someone in pain from this disease. Most of the funds raised for this cause will go to the Cord Donor Bank of DKMS. Shannon's family and PR team is in full support of the work of A Place For Us National to bring attention to this cause. WHERE CORNELIA IS BOOK FOR UPCOMINGBOOOK SIGNINGS AND EVENTS. The dates are February 19th Love joy Library Hampton Georgia right by Love Joy Highschool from 12-3 we will have speakers, singers and dancer performing and then do the swabbing!!! Followed by book signing! The next event is at the Henry medical center on March 12th from 3-6 pm in Stockbridge Georgia in the community room! We will have three more events there.....my Vice-president Dianne Worester of "all shades of brown" set those up for me and the cvolunteers too. The Delaware Hockessin event had to be re-scheduled to mid- march possible the 19 or the 26th there are several churches on multi-cultural day, signing and bone donor drive too.
