Most observers of nature, biology and climate agree that we are in the midst of a mass extinction of life on earth. Over 3,000 species per year are disappearing off of planet earth, which alarmingly, equals three species per hour. Many of these disappearing species have yet to be recognized by humankind on earth. This is not the first mass extinction that the earth has experienced. Most biologists consider that we are currently experiencing the 6th mass extinction since life has arisen on earth. This current mass extinction is the first one caused by organisms living on the planet. The others were caused by tectonic shifts, volcanic eruptions or comet or asteroid collisions. How will this current mass extinction affect life on earth in decades to come? Are our grandchildren facing a drastically different world than the one we are living in today? Join us as we explore “The Sixth Mass Extinction.”
