Invented by James Heires, EZ Metrix is a web-based code counting utility. Every industry or profession has its key performance indicators (KPIs) that provide insights to the processes which produce their products or services. In software, one of the most fundamental measures is size. Without a size measure, other software metrics (e.g., duration, effort, cost, defects) lose their value, as they become difficult to scale and normalize. Software size is one of the most basic measures a manager can take, and yet it is surprising how many reasonably successful organizations do not measure software size at all. Equally as surprising are the statistics published by the Standish Group and others, that illustrate what a sorry state of affairs the software industry is currently in. Listen in, as Steve and James discuss the incredible value that EZ-Metrix can provide any organization that builds software of any kind.
