Greg Hayes has been studying Martial Arts since 1971. He is known for his teachings that are individualized and free of the limitations of different languages, religion, or culture. “Shared Lived Experience” is his main means of communication, training and development.
From 1980 to 1987, he studied under Grandmaster Wong Jack Man of San Francisco, Jing Mo (the first person to complete all of the Northern Shaolin studies since World War II), using Lohan, Northern Shaolin, Hsing I (Xing Yi) San Ti Qigong and Nei Gung. Sifu Wong’s direct lineage can be traced to the Ching soldiers burning of Honan Shaolin Temple 1732 AD., when monk Chi Yuan escaped and went to Shantung province.
Greg’s Qigong is based on meditative martial Northern Shaolin Buddhist methods, Internal Iron Shirt and Internal Iron Palm in the Wide Circle of Kung Fu taught by Joseph Greenstein (The Might Atom of Ripley's and Guinness Book of World Records). From 1972 to 1976, he trained with the renowned healer Mildred Jackson N.D, author of the Handbook of Alternatives to Chemical Medicines, in herbs, diet, and aura readings.
He also attended Berkeley Aikido, where he learned Ki exercises, empty hand, sword, and staff. His studies included Hapkido with Master Minh, Shotokan, Goju hard style Qigong, and Aido Samurai Sword under Master Takahashi. Greg also studied Yang style Tai Chi and Ba Gua at the Chinese Cultural Center. After that, he furthered his studies by learning Hsing Yi, Ba Gua Qigong and Circle Walks under Master S.T. Ying of Berkeley.
Greg Hayes has taught Shaolin, Tai Chi and Qigong since 1995. He is the author of the soon-to-be-published book Axe Hand, Hsing-i & Internal Strength Workout.
