    INTERVIEW WITH DR. ROGER JAHNKE

    Dr. Roger Jahnke began his practice of Tai Chi and Qigong in 1967. He has been to China 8 times to research Qi cultivation and vitality enhancement in hospitals, universities, temples and sacred mountain sites. He has lectured internationally and is the author of two best selling books of Tai Chi, Qigong and self-healing, The Healer within (Harper-Collins, 1997) and The Healing Promise of Qi (McGraw-Hill, 2002). Dr. Jahnke commenced his activity in the field of health promotion, disease management, corporate wellness, benefits assessment and productivity enhancement in 1978 when he developed a series of retreats targeted at elders and executives. In 1980 Dr. Jahnke moved his clinical Chinese medicine and wellness consultation practices to Santa Barbara, CA. In 1983 he co-founded Health Action, which is a clinic as well as a training, consulting and strategic planning organization. Its purpose is to assist hospitals, agencies, communities, corporations, schools and other organizations to focus on health improvement and community empowerment. A primary program which was developed and refined over 25 years is the Health Action Wellness Coaching program using the Circle of Life Coaching System. In 2000 Dr. Jahnke founded the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi which has trained 300 mind-body practice teachers and over 500 Tai Chi Practice Leaders. Several years later, he established Healer Within Foundation to bring the benefits of mind-body practice and wellness coaching to populations that are otherwise unable to afford the benefits.     INTERVIEW WITH SHARON SMITH

    Sharon Smith has been practicing Qigong, Tai Chi, & other Taoist spiritual and healing arts for 31 years & teaching them for 26. Her influential teachers include Masters Mantak Chia (she was in his original class of western students in 1981), Li Jun Feng, Ming Chan, and T.K. Shih. She also studied with Jeanette Chi, Gilles Marin, Don Ahn, as well as many other Tao masters. Sharon is certified by Master Mantak Chia’s Universal Tao system as a Senior Instructor and Chi Nei Tsang Practitioner. She is also certified by the International Sheng Zhen Society to teach Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong, the work of Master Li Jun Feng. In addition, Sharon has practiced Iyengar yoga for over 25 years. She has traveled many times to China, Thailand, India, the Philppines, and New Zealand to further her studies. Sharon currently teaches seminars internationally as well as regularly at the New York Open Center. She has taught at Master Mantak Chia’s Tao Garden in Thailand, Omega Institute, Healing Tao University, New York University, New York State Department of Parks & Recreation, etc. Sharon also was a presenter at the 2009 International Tai Chi Symposium in Nashville, Tennessee.

    INTERVIEW WITH Dr. NORMAN SHEALY

    Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D. is President of Holos Institutes of Health, a non-profit organization devoted to research, education and clinical services in Holistic Health (see www.holosuniversity.org). A neurosurgeon, trained at Massachusetts General Hospital, after medical school at Duke University, he has taught at Harvard, Western Reserve, U. of Wisconsin, U. of Minnesota, and Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. He was the Founding President of Holos University Graduate Seminary and now serves as Professor Emeritus of Energy Medicine. In 1971 he founded the first comprehensive, holistic clinic for management of pain and stress management. The Shealy Institute became the most successful and most cost-effective pain clinic in the U.S, with 85% success in over 30,000 patients. The Shealy protocols for management of depression, migraine, fibromyalgia and back pain are increasingly being integrated into hospitals and individual practices. In 1973, recognizing the need to incorporate spirituality into medical practice, he created Holos University Graduate Seminary, offering masters and doctoral programs in Spiritual Healing and Energy Medicine. In 1978, Dr. Shealy was instrumental in creating The American Holistic Medical Association, which emphasizes the spiritual component of healing. Dr. Shealy has studied the physiological effects of over a dozen talented healers. He has demonstrated in over 116 patients that competent healers can change the brain map from a distance. His current research emphasizes rejuvenation of DNA telomeres, which are critical for health and longevity. Dr. Shealy holds 11 patents for innovative discoveries, has published over 300 articles and 25 books.     Karl Ardo is a certified teacher of Five Element Medical Qigong and Meditation as well as a Zero Balancing practitioner. He has been studying several types of Chinese disciplines, including Medical Qigong, Tai Chi and Meditation, since 1974. Since 1995, he has been teaching beginning to advanced levels of Qigong and Meditation in Columbia, Maryland. As a member of the National Qigong Association and Advisory Board of the Zero Balancing Association, Karl serves as a guide presenting alternative approaches to health maintenance. In addition, he teaches advanced Qigong Healing of others (hands off healing technique) and provides private individual session in Qigong and Zero Balancing. He has a light and compassionate manner of instructing, which allows each participant to easily learn and retain the information.

    Caryn Boyd Diel, the founder of White Cloud Institute, has a full time healing practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She incorporates a lifetime of study in the areas of counseling, bodywork and hands on healing. Her training has taken her around the world. Caryn has a Masters degree in Education and Counseling from the University of California. She graduated from the Barbara Brennan School of Healing in New York, studied Medical Qigong at the Xi Yuan Hospital in Bejing, China and at the International Institute of Medical Qigong with Sifu J.A. Johnson. She is a Full Instructor with the Universal Healing Tao and has studied with Master Mantak Chia in Thailand.

    Gary Giamboi founded The Institute of Asian Arts in 1994 in order to continue the tradition of discovering, nurturing and passing on the wisdom of the ancients. He began his Eastern journey in 1969 and has had the unbelievable good fortune to have become a disciple and personal student of four World Class Masters He has achieved the Rank of Master Level Instructor in Qigong, Taijiquan, Ninpo, Jujutsu, Asayama Ichiden Ryu, Kenjutsu and Yoga in world recognized organizations. He is also certified as a Personal Trainer, as a Pilates instructor, in Ohashiatsu, in Thai Yoga and has several other lower rank Black Belts in various martial arts. He specializes in finding the common thread of Truth in All of these Arts, because at the end of the day “Things Can Only Work One Way.” Even though they use different systems of Internal Energy, Yoga works in China and Acupuncture works in India. Each contains a piece of The Truth or The Way Things Are. It is up to each of us to find as much of That Truth, That Way and live by it as closely as possible. Gary has taught and demonstrated Martial Arts, Qigong, Yoga and Fitness Training in the USA, Japan, China, Canada, UK, Belgium, Germany, and Ireland.     INTERVIEW WITH LI JUNFENG

    Master Li Junfeng was born, raised, and educated in China. After earning a degree from the Beijing University of Physical Education, he eventually became the head coach for the Chinese National Martial Arts Team. He held this position for 15 years, leading the team to unprecedented glory and winning hundreds of gold medals for his team and country. He also became a major movie actor and was the leading man in 4 Kung Fu movies. Master Li is very famous in China and swarmed for autographs wherever he goes. In 1992 he was introduced to Sheng Zhen Qigong. Soon after, he gave up fame & fortune to travel the world teaching this lovely and powerful form. He has taught seminars in over 30 different countries, including the US, Canada, Israel, Norway, Austria, Belgium, France, Portugal, New Zealand, the Philippines and, of course, China. Sheng Zhen means “Unconditional Love.” Its message is simply, “Love Everyone. Love Everything…and Unconditional Love is the best and strongest medicine.” Master Li now lives in Austin, Texas and is a professor at the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin (AOMA). He is currently Councilor of the World Academic Society of Medical Qigong and advisor to the Qigong Science Research Association of China.
