Listened to "Women subjects that are stereotypical..." and TRULY understand so much that you said about being used, making more than the man, etc. My ex-husband was a PRO at using me! I also believe that there are a surplus of men out there and good ones too. Keep up the great commentary!

Stay on the case Kiri-Love. What you are speaking about is widespread. I wrote a novel about this subject and predatory men, and in the real life story that my book was focused on, the young girl at ten years old was impregnated by a live-in boyfriend. He did ten years in prison, not enough. Don

Thanks Kiri for joining us for the Blog Action Day podcast on "Working Toward Poverty: Underemployment and Women." My mom was a single mother during my teen years so I truly understand the struggles families headed by single moms experience. It was important to me that the show shed light on the issues that they experience and provide practical information. Dr. Gatta was a great find. She truly gets it and she's out there trying to make life better for single moms and especially low-income women. Getting Kudos from the Psyche of the Single Parent let me know we nailed it. :-) Thank you for your kind words.

Sarah Palin And Her Outrageous Rape Kit Policy By Bonnie Erbe Sep 18, 2008 E-Mail Story Print Story Sphere Share Text Size: A A A (US News) Mountains of controversy are swirling around Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's strange policy of forcing rape victims to pay for their own rape kits while she was mayor of the now-infamous town of Wasilla. The most interesting take I've found is posted by Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore who relates the following: I sat with a rape victim during the "harvesting of evidence". Mascara smeared eyes stared blankly out from a cave of shame. "We've got swimmers," announced the forensic tech in the lab next door. My friend didn't look surprised. In her 60's, she was still asked if she felt the need for emergency contraception. Surviving the process would have only been compounded and made worse with an itemized bill; victimized twice courtesy of Sarah Palin and the city of Wasilla. Much can be learned about the Palin Administration's family values from reviewing their spending priorities. Former Chief of Police Irl Stambaugh included forensic rape kits (up to $1,200 per kit) in his budget requests. He was fired by Palin in 1997. In her termination letter, Palin wrote, "...I do not feel I have your full support in my efforts to govern the city of Wasilla. Therefore I intend to terminate your employment... " Staumbaugh headed the police department since it was created in 1993. Before that, he served 22 years with the Anchorage Police Department rising to the rank of captain. Sarah Palin hired Charlie Fannon as the new Wasilla Chief of Police and said it was one of her best decisions as mayor. Fannon eliminated the forensic rape kits from the budget. Though the number of rapes weren't reported, Fannon claimed it would save Wasilla taxpayers $5,000 to $14,000 a year. Palin supporters ought to be taking a much closer look at her record on these types of issues (charging rape victims for evidentiary examinations so their attackers can be brought to trial) than whether she can juggle five children and the vice presidency. This, more than anything, should push women, pro-life and pro-choice, away from the McCain-Palin ticket. It's one thing to oppose abortion on moral grounds. It's quite another to charge crime victims for their own forensic examinations. Such a policy is nothing short of outrageous.

Thanks for coming thru Kiri. I wish you would've had a chance to put more of your commentary in the conversation coming from the stand point of a fellow parent. I got annoyed with the other callers pessimistic-oh well we shouldn't give a damn attitude-especially when they weren't even a parent. Though I'm cool with the other caller on a superficial level-I just feel if your not part of the solution your part of the problem. So, I added you to my favs and when you have a topic that touches on the subject I'ma come thru. Peace and Blessings. :-) ~Zen~

Daley: Supreme Court decision 'frightening' Mayor Richard Daley says he doesn't know if the Supreme Court decision striking down Washington's handgun ban will affect a similar law in Chicago. But the mayor calls the ruling "a very frightening decision." Speaking during a morning event at Navy Pier, Daley said any effort to strike down Chicago's handgun ban would likely increase taxes because of the increased need for police presence. He also says violence sparked by the end of the ban would also increase hospitalizations. The court's 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia's 32-year-old ban on handguns. Justices say it was incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment.

Thank you for stopping by T.R.U.T.H.H., and for that commanding comment. I agree our fathers that are not taking care of their responsibilities need to step up and take care of their kids. Plain and simple. I have a sister who is a single mother who raised a son who is now a millionaire. So with God all things are possible. I hope to get her on Blog Talk Radio with her story and testimony. If you get a chance you check out his testimony at the following YouTube link. http://youtube.com/watch?v=W9bDVSb_s7Q Thank you once again for listening to the Father’s Day message, and for the work you are doing. Thanks for your contributions on BTR. Let's not sweep single parenting topics and MALE RESPONSIBLITY under the rug. I realize that I am TAGGED as bitter and disgruntled, but what would that make men who walk away from their children? I thank you for continuing the labels on men who are not responsible. My child's father is trying to tell the world that he is NOT a deadbeat, NOT irresponsible, DID NOT walk away, DOES want to parent. You guys have helped me to make it evident that it is not what a man says, but what he does. Therefore his stereotypical label is befitting to him, no matter what he protests. MEN MUST BE PROACTIVE IN PRESERVING THEIR LEGAL RIGHTS AS A FATHER. I will continue to blog, discuss, and support women who want to talk about it. AMERICA is in denial & shame about SINGLE MOMS and fatherhood responsiblity. There's a movement in America by women to further remove men from the family, and teach young mothers to make a man give up his parental rights as an ultimatum. This is more damaging to our society than male castration. We have more conversations on how to date, than how to parent. IT IS NOT OK FOR A CHILD TO BE WITHOUT A FATHER. We know very well how to live without fathers, it is time to learn how to live with fathers. The children are hurting, obviously not the mothers. Thanks for taking this issue seriously. www.myspace.com/kirilove www.blogtalkradio.com/psycheofthesingleparent http://themakingofadeadbeat.blogspot.com

CBC FOUNDATION PRESIDENT REMEMBERS THE REV. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. ON THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH WASHINGTON – Elsie L. Scott, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF), today reflected on the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 40th anniversary of his death and the Foundation’s efforts to continue his good works. “There has been much progress in America since Dr. King’s untimely death – and yet our nation still has so far to go,” Dr. Scott said. “The progress is that we have many more African Americans who are in positions of power in public office, Corporate America, entertainment, etc. We also have many more African Americans in the middle class. However, the African-American poverty rate is still more than 20 percent. It is also important to remember that Dr. King’s focus at the time of his death was heavily on economic justice. He was in Memphis to support the rights of sanitation workers and he was planning the Poor Peoples Campaign for Washington, D.C. Sadly, that part of his dream has not been realized. Like Dr. King, the CBC Foundation’s mission and programs are aimed at reducing societal disparities. On this the 40th anniversary of his assassination, we want to remind everyone, especially the nation’s policymakers, that there is still an unfinished agenda.”

It's time for black men to take responsibility for themselves! Since the explosion of social networking, I have never met so many black men who wish their mother's would have aborted them, in my life. Grown A## black men blaming their mothers for their fathers not being there. Blaming their mothers for their father being a DEADBEAT. Blaming their wives and girlfriends for themselves being a DEADBEAT. Telling women that, "It's your fault I'm no good, you should have never trusted me. You should have never CHOSE me. It's your fault because you CHOSE me". Blaming the government for themselves becoming criminals. Blaming the white man because they are unemployed. BLACK MEN TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR YOURSELF! IT'S YOUR CHOICE TO BE A LOSER, if you are...and stop blaming women. Then turning around needing us women to vouch, testify, rally, and take care of your grown as##. My 30 minute comentary on this subject.
