Vassy won an Australian (Triple J) Unearthed radio contest in 2003, and was subsequently signed to the Warner Brothers music label in Australia. In late 2005, Vassy released her debut album My Affection. In 2008, she moved to the United States and signed with the music label Ultra Records. In early 2010, Vassy released her single "History," produced by Richard Vission ("I Like That", Madonna, Lady Gaga) and Chico Bennett through Ultra Records and performed on a national club tour. She has since cut ties with Ultra.
