Everybody Pays A Vig: One Man's Philosophy on Banking, Investing, Financial Literacy, Education, Race, Religion and Family.

MINDING YOUR OWN BUSINESS: Learn Craig Sotkovsky's philosophy of banking, investing, personal and business financial literacy, education, race, religion and family. Trying to Find Your Way ain't Easy In a world of uncertainty, navigating the right path is critical. What is your Path? Where are you going? How did you get where you are? I would like to know. I'm curious about human beings, their patterns: financial, cultural, belief systems. What makes us do the things we do? And why? I'm a 42 year old who has changed my own patterns because I realized that my old behaviors didn't work. What makes people complacent and afraid of life? Is it fear of the unknown? Or have we been conned to think that someone else knows what's good for us?

    Everybody Pays A Vig

If you don't know what a vig is, it is simply a part of you that you are never getting back. In gambling terms, a vig is money you pay a bookie whether you win or lose; the guy taking the action is always making money. Now you'll see my thought process on banks, investments, financial literacy, education, race, religion, family, and everything else you can have odds on. That's the vig, the juice of life. Who are you giving your vig to.? I want to know, so tell me. Don't be afraid. You've already been conned by life. Fight or flight... you choose.

    DEFINITION FROM wikipedia:

Vigorish, or simply "the vig", also known as "juice" or "the take", is the amount charged by a bookmaker for his services. The term is Yiddish slang originating from the Russian word for "winnings", vyigrysh. Bookmakers use this concept to make money on their wagers regardless of the outcome. Because of the vigorish concept, bookmakers should not have an interest in either side winning in a given sporting event. They are interested, instead, in getting equal action on each side of the event. In this way, the bookmaker minimizes their risk and always collects a small commission from the vigorish. The bookmaker will normally adjust the odds (or "line") to attract equal action on each side of an event.
