Probably Uncalled For...

Why Talk Radio Was Invented. Hosted by author/syndicated columnist Dr. Thomas Keister and "The Internet Legend," ppdingles, the show takes an often cynical look at the best, the worst, and the least damn surprising of the week you're amazed you've only made it halfway through. Current events, politics, entertainment, pop culture, we discuss all the crap getting beamed into space to state the case we're an intelligent species. Yeah...we're boned...

    Date / Time:

Taking "below the belt" to new heights

You would think, by now, that all the high-powered pundits, yesholes, strategists, advisers, and the like would learn to keep the side chatter to a minimum when the mikes are still live. By now, the entire world and at least two neighbors have heard the Rev. Jesse Jackson's off-hand remarks, delivered during a break on an appearance on Fox News last night, where he mentioned, in a sideways manner to another guest seated next to him, that presumed Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama was "talking down to black people" on faith-based issues, and that he (Jackson) wanted to "cut his (Obama) nuts off."

Damn. Think someone is still a little bitter over not gaining the Democratic nomination in '84 and '88? While the inevitable "apology tour" is now in full swing, this does nothing but make me wonder why, after all we have seen over the last seven-and-a-half years, "faith" of any sort continues to play any part at all in this election. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but how much have you heard from Sen. John McCain on the issue of his faith? Exactly...not much at all.

While McCain knows he has to play it close to the vest to keep the evangelical base Dubya spent his trip to the White House building, at the same time McCain is trying to build a campaign that is more than a little distanced from the previous administration's gross incompetence. I guess that would seem to be at least a little fitting...not much bigger leaps of faith than trying to walk a tight rope.

What a glorious day it would be, although I doubt seriously it will ever come, when one, both, or all three presumed or nominated candidates for president finally just stop and say "God damn it, this is about policy, not religious preference or level of faith!"

Sure beats hiding out from Jesse Jackson.
