Probably Uncalled For...

Why Talk Radio Was Invented. Hosted by author/syndicated columnist Dr. Thomas Keister and "The Internet Legend," ppdingles, the show takes an often cynical look at the best, the worst, and the least damn surprising of the week you're amazed you've only made it halfway through. Current events, politics, entertainment, pop culture, we discuss all the crap getting beamed into space to state the case we're an intelligent species. Yeah...we're boned...

The FCC can suck my hairy beanbag...

    by The Icon
    contributing writer, FreeReinMedia.com

That’s right. The FCC can suck my hairy old coin purse. Censor me. I dare you. I f**king hate censorship! Free speech should be just that. I bet you’re thinking ‘is this guy gonna rant? Is this guy going to curse a lot?’ Yep. Ranting and swearing have been a staple of America since colonial days. And it was a staple of one of our best comedians, George Carlin. In 1978 the FCC filed a claim against the Pacifica Foundation, a father complained to the FCC that his son had heard the George Carlin routine "Filthy Words" broadcast one afternoon over WBAI, a Pacifica Foundation FM radio station in New York City.

Pacifica received a sanction from the FCC, in the form of a letter of reprimand, for allegedly violating FCC regulations which prohibited broadcasting "indecent" material. In the case that followed the FCC got a very broad leeway to determine what constituted indecency in different contexts… meaning that they can pretty much censor whatever the hell that they want to. You can see a man’s naked a** on TV. but Janet Jackson shows a nipple and all hell breaks loose? F**k that!

So why am I getting all huffy and puffy over this? We’re in the last home for free speech. The internet. At least it used to be. At one point you could do/say/see whatever the f**k you wanted to but now there are so many ‘are you over 18’ and ‘register here for access’ sites that it’s almost not worth it. Here are two brutal examples. When I was 15 there was a site called Ogrish.com. It was a shock video site. I saw two Russian soldiers cut the head off of a Chechnya rebel live on camera. It turned my stomach and I hit a friend for showing it to me. But I could access it anytime I wanted to. No strings, no waivers, nothing. The government decided that it was ‘too extreme’ and took the site down. It was relaunched as a pay site before being merged with a news site and pretty much disbanded.

That brings me to my other example. 2girls1cup.com. yep. I said it. For those of you who don’t know, look it up on Wikipedia. 2girls1cup has grown into such an internet phenomenon that it was referenced on ‘Family Guy’. A show on TBS during primetime! It’s a site where you can view two women participating in pretty nasty acts with each other. It’s not for the weak of heart. It made even my sick a** cringe. And I can get turned on by Hostel and Saw movies. Sick huh? Anyhow, it’s now a site where you have to register (for free) just to view it! Who needs to see the list of people watching it? And why? Why does the government care who sees this s**t? It’s just another way for them to control what we can and can’t see and keep tabs on us. Which is not cool...

I enjoy the privacy I have in my own home. But more and more I feel like I am being spoon fed what to hear and what to watch. Don’t edit my music. Don’t blur my TV. images. Don’t cut out the scene where John Travolta shoots Marvin in the face! Or the ‘Running a race car in the red’ scene! (Pulp Fiction references) The more I can’t see what I want, when I want, I get mad at this country. So f**k the FCC. F**k the current president and his administration. And f**k all the right wing a**holes who decide on how our lives are supposed to run. We are a country founded by rebels and driven by the need to do our own thing. Hell, our votes don’t even matter! So have fun with the system. This November 4th vote Cobra Commander as a write in vote on your ballot. Let’s see how many people we can get to vote Cobra and really f**k with their heads. Besides the way the election is shaping up I may just have to look for a new home…

    O, Canada…….
