Hosted by author/syndicated columnist Dr. Thomas Keister and "The Internet Legend," ppdingles, the show takes an often cynical look at the best, the worst, and the least damn surprising of the week you're amazed you've only made it halfway through. Current events, politics, entertainment, pop culture, we discuss all the crap getting beamed into space to state the case we're an intelligent species. Yeah...we're boned...

FEMA: Tired of all the jokes, now they come out swingin' golf clubs!

You would think after all that has happened after the last couple of years, the last thing FEMA would need is a refresher in customer service. FEMA housing inspector Vincent Koley, on the job in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the recent flooding, got into a confrontation with a man at a cross walk, which led to Koley striking Tom Kramer with a golf club (breaking the club), after claiming "he didn't have to slow down, he was with FEMA," then forcing him on the hood of his car after several of Kramer's co-workers surrounded the vehicle to prevent him from leaving the scene. Koley, 74, was booked into the Jones County Jail, charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

Damn. I mean, it's not just the arrogance involved with making the kind of statement like "I don't have to slow down, I'm with FEMA," but the slight inaccuracy. Koley is not with FEMA, but rather with Alltech, Inc., a housing inspection company working as a FEMA contractor. I guess Koley did have the power of creative license on his side. If someone fed me the following line of crap during a traffic-related confrontation (should that, in all unlikelihood, ever happen to me): "I don't have to slow down, I'm a sub-contractor," then said person, whether male, female, or 74 years old, had better by god have a golf club on them.

Although, in Koley's defense, he's not taking any s**t at 74. Still got a pretty good swing, too, judging by the broken golf club in his wake. Maybe I'm being just a bit ageist, or whatever the f**k the term is, but isn't this kind of what you get for keeping a 74 year old on the payroll? I mean, let's not kid ourselves here. Who the hell takes a golf club to a flood zone? If someone's gonna get sh**ty about your driving, what made you think they'd mind some of the FEMA catching a quick nine on the golf course, should it not be completely submerged?

Of course, I'm just...ahem...kidding here, should FEMA (or their sub-contractors) read this. Or, email ahead and let me know what club you plan on bringing...so I may make my club selection accordingly...

The FCC can suck my hairy beanbag...

    by The Icon
    contributing writer, FreeReinMedia.com

That’s right. The FCC can suck my hairy old coin purse. Censor me. I dare you. I f**king hate censorship! Free speech should be just that. I bet you’re thinking ‘is this guy gonna rant? Is this guy going to curse a lot?’ Yep. Ranting and swearing have been a staple of America since colonial days. And it was a staple of one of our best comedians, George Carlin. In 1978 the FCC filed a claim against the Pacifica Foundation, a father complained to the FCC that his son had heard the George Carlin routine "Filthy Words" broadcast one afternoon over WBAI, a Pacifica Foundation FM radio station in New York City.

Pacifica received a sanction from the FCC, in the form of a letter of reprimand, for allegedly violating FCC regulations which prohibited broadcasting "indecent" material. In the case that followed the FCC got a very broad leeway to determine what constituted indecency in different contexts… meaning that they can pretty much censor whatever the hell that they want to. You can see a man’s naked a** on TV. but Janet Jackson shows a nipple and all hell breaks loose? F**k that!

So why am I getting all huffy and puffy over this? We’re in the last home for free speech. The internet. At least it used to be. At one point you could do/say/see whatever the f**k you wanted to but now there are so many ‘are you over 18’ and ‘register here for access’ sites that it’s almost not worth it. Here are two brutal examples. When I was 15 there was a site called Ogrish.com. It was a shock video site. I saw two Russian soldiers cut the head off of a Chechnya rebel live on camera. It turned my stomach and I hit a friend for showing it to me. But I could access it anytime I wanted to. No strings, no waivers, nothing. The government decided that it was ‘too extreme’ and took the site down. It was relaunched as a pay site before being merged with a news site and pretty much disbanded.

That brings me to my other example. 2girls1cup.com. yep. I said it. For those of you who don’t know, look it up on Wikipedia. 2girls1cup has grown into such an internet phenomenon that it was referenced on ‘Family Guy’. A show on TBS during primetime! It’s a site where you can view two women participating in pretty nasty acts with each other. It’s not for the weak of heart. It made even my sick a** cringe. And I can get turned on by Hostel and Saw movies. Sick huh? Anyhow, it’s now a site where you have to register (for free) just to view it! Who needs to see the list of people watching it? And why? Why does the government care who sees this s**t? It’s just another way for them to control what we can and can’t see and keep tabs on us. Which is not cool...

I enjoy the privacy I have in my own home. But more and more I feel like I am being spoon fed what to hear and what to watch. Don’t edit my music. Don’t blur my TV. images. Don’t cut out the scene where John Travolta shoots Marvin in the face! Or the ‘Running a race car in the red’ scene! (Pulp Fiction references) The more I can’t see what I want, when I want, I get mad at this country. So f**k the FCC. F**k the current president and his administration. And f**k all the right wing a**holes who decide on how our lives are supposed to run. We are a country founded by rebels and driven by the need to do our own thing. Hell, our votes don’t even matter! So have fun with the system. This November 4th vote Cobra Commander as a write in vote on your ballot. Let’s see how many people we can get to vote Cobra and really f**k with their heads. Besides the way the election is shaping up I may just have to look for a new home…

    O, Canada…….

  • Date / Time:

    This week in waste management

Man, how freakin easy is this one? For a president worthy of neither honor nor memorial, somehow, even this works. The city of San Francisco is looking to name its state-of-the-art sewage plant after George W. Bush, and why the hell not? For a man so full of s**t and void of shame, even a sewage treatment plant seems lofty, but it has a better ring to it than the M. Night Shyamalan Sewage Plant. M. Night would not so much treat the sewage as he would simply continue smearing it on film and charging eight bucks a pop to see it, so in the end it become a bit counter-productive. I'm not exactly sure this would bring a tear to his eye, but I wonder if Dubya is wondering if, when the wind picks up just right in that neighborhood, if people will automatically, if not wistfully, think back to the eight years he treated this country and its constitution like a tent spike. The idea goes to the voters in San Francisco, with the plan calling for a January 20 name change, marked by the simultaneous flushing of toilets across the city. Flush once for me, should this go through...

Speaking of raw sewage, how about our Supreme Court? Thank god someone stepped in to help Exxon Mobil's bottom line. Since I can only afford to buy like one share of stock every six months thanks to things like $4.30/gallon gas, you had better believe it's going toward oil company stock.

The High Court, so dubbed because they must be smoking better stuff than I have ever laid hands on, recently cut the 1989 punitive damages award against Exxon down to around $500 million. The original award was $5 billion, but that was cut in half by a federal appeals court in California. I guess the justices figured they might as well, as Exxon Mobil has managed to pay very little of that judgement out over the last nineteen years. Besides, when we are supposedly entering an age of increased demand for accountability in corporate America, how does the Supreme Court making up rules as they go to cut a break for a company that thought nothing of unleashing a supertanker captained by a drunk exactly set the pace?

Out of 150 acts, I guess one had to screw the pooch...

So I guess now the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival hates black people. It's just a matter of time before Kayne West offers up that, or some other asinine excuse, for his performance Sunday morning at the annual music festival, which was marked by several thousand people chanting "Kayne sucks!" over the nearly two-hour delay in his set.

The delay was blamed on teardown of Pearl Jam's stage (they played over an hour) and set-up of West's stage. West's show was scheduled for 2:45 am Sunday morning, but did not kick-off until 4:25 am. West was originally slated to go on 8:15 pm Saturday night, but West had requested a late-night performance. Someone should take him to a corner and explain to him this is why high-profile types usually have people who handle scheduling-type matters for them. Personally, I can't say much about West or his music one way or another, but it is kind of hard to argue with thousands of people, even those who managed to stay up until four-thirty in the morning, so I will defer to the judgement of the paid ticketholders in Manchester, Tennessee.
