Probably Uncalled For...

Why Talk Radio Was Invented. Hosted by author/syndicated columnist Dr. Thomas Keister and "The Internet Legend," ppdingles, the show takes an often cynical look at the best, the worst, and the least damn surprising of the week you're amazed you've only made it halfway through. Current events, politics, entertainment, pop culture, we discuss all the crap getting beamed into space to state the case we're an intelligent species. Yeah...we're boned...

Come join Dr. Thomas Keister and "The Internet Legend" ppdingles tonight for an all-new episode of Probably Uncalled For, the award-nominated, internationally acclaimed talk radio hit! Tonight, on a Veterans Day broadcast, we'll be discussing, in addition to the deplorable state of healthcare for our fighting men and women, a sweetheart deal for the New England Patriots, courtesy of the taxpayers, Tea Parties, illegal immigration, Glenn Beck, and other topics that should outrage the American with a little common damn sense! Phone lines and chat room open the duration of the broadcast. Come find out what the world is listening to!

And so it begins...over a f**king video game...

Yes sirree, Bob...you knew it was only a matter of minutes before the fit hit the shan over the much-anticipated release of Rockstar Games' expected mega-hit Grand Theft Auto IV yesterday. Having briefly played some yesterday, as ppdingles was tearing into it like a feral dog on a porkchop wagon, I can honestly say it was worth the wait. The game has delivered everything the hype suggested thus far, and I cannot wait to delve into the game further.

But you knew it wasn't going to be that easy. You should have known, anyhow. While I'm no doubt sure half a million kids have already worked their way through 50%+ by this point (can't wait for all the complaints to start from that end of the spectrum...you know, the people too f**king stupid to read the label and find out who the game is appropriate for), all manners of yackety-yack were in play, this press release form MADD notable:

MADD’s Statement Regarding Grand Theft Auto IV
Each year nearly 13,500 people die in drunk driving crashes and another half a million are injured in alcohol-related traffic crashes. This is why MADD is extremely disappointed by the decision of the manufacturers of the game Grand Theft Auto IV to include a game module where players can drive drunk. Drunk driving is not a game and it is not a joke. Drunk driving is a choice, a violent crime and it is also 100 percent preventable. MADD is calling on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board to reclassify Grand Theft Auto IV as an Adults Only game, a step up from the current rating of Mature and for the manufacturer to consider a stop in distribution – if not out of responsibility to society then out of respect for the millions of victims/survivors of drunk driving.
    Contact Information
    Kelley Tway, MADD National 469-420-4493

*sigh* What the hell? Everything else in the entertainment world that glamorizes drunk driving, just as a tip of an iceberg, but you notice MADD is smart enough to least go after the big time flavor of the day. I don't recall MADD calling for boycott of celebrities' movies or TV shows if (and when) they invariably do 47 minutes or so for committing a DUI. Could be wrong, but somehow, I doubt it. I know I am fair from the first to say it, but at any rate...IT'S JUST A F**KING VIDEO GAME!!!

Probably Uncalled For Episode 47 Wrap-up

So, according to the Migration Policy Institute, Los Angeles is on the verge of becoming a "Third World city," is it? Hmmm. That actually kind of makes sense in a lot of ways. Many Third World countries have booming movie industries, thriving sex trades, and rampant, bizarre celebrity worship. You know...people like Michael Jackson. Yes, sir...that sounds an awful lot like Los Angeles, and as a bonus, L.A. is bigger than a lot of Third World countries, so if anything..."honorary" status?...

Said it on the show, and it bears repeating here in print- Royal Caribbean International, and its Chief Executive, Adam Goldstein, are douchebags of the highest caliber. Stranding a family of five in a foreign country with no passports, and in just their f**king pajamas, because their 7-month-old daughter had a cold? Adam Goldstein, the ship's so-called captain, and the ship's so-called doctor oughta to be made to take a round-trip from Miami to Havana and back in their pajamas on a f**king raft.

If you should happen to agree with us, and want to share your displeasure:
    Royal Caribbean International
    attn: extreme douchebag Adam Goldstein

There is simply no defensible reason at all...ever...period...for not even having enough food to feed our troops in Iraq. For all the dozens...maybe hundreds...likely thousands of reasons this bulls**t quagmire is probably set to stay for another twenty years, this one is particularly shameful. I'm not sure I'd rather commit suicide than starve to death, and hopefully, I'll never get the chance to find out, even in the name of whatever the hell the Bush administration wants to spin as "patriotism" this week. War is hell, and especially so when the devil in the detail is the jerk-off solely responsible for getting us into this hot mess in the first f**king place.

When it comes down to Red Bull or Mamajuana Energy, WWE wrestler John "Bradshaw" Layfield's energy drink product, I'm going to have to go with JBL on this one. Not that I do not enjoy a Red Bull and Jack from time to time, but I hold firm to a body count principle, and right now, Red Bull is far enough in the lead (and Mamajuana Energy has no trial of dead leading to their doors) to make it hard not to declare Layfield the winner here.

Japanese whiskey? The best in the world? I'm going to remain skeptical for the time being...I do wonder, however, if all the flags in Scotland flew at half-mast when the awards were announced. At any rate, kudos to Suntory Hibiki, Yoichi chief blender Tetsuyi Hisamitsu for their Yoichi 20 years old, the best whiskey in the world.

Phone rape? Shut the f**k up with that noise? If I talk someone over the phone into giving themselves a black eye, am I guilty of assault? Hardly. Must be a great and ponderous dumbass population in Tunisia. For f**k's sake, never even knew Tunisia had a cell phone tower...

What do you get the guy who has it all? How about a brass-knuckled bagslap if he spends $300,000 on a watch that simply tells him whether or not it is day or night? Magnificently needless extravagance, something the geniuses at Romain Jerome should be proud of.

Remember everybody, starting Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Probably Uncalled For will being airing at its new night and time - Wednesdays 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific! Back in Prime Time, baby!!!

Join Thomas Keister and ppdingles tonight LIVE on Probably Uncalled For! In tonight's special abbreviated Monday night episode, we'll be veering straight from ppdingles' Inside the Squared Circle broadcast to tear into some absolute cold-hearted s**t involving Royal Carribbean Cruise Lines, more incredible stupidity from the U.S. government regarding the military, energy drink madness, phone sex gone awry, the most expensive piece of crap they are callin' a watch ever, the weekend box office, you know...things and stuff and topics and such...

  • Date / Time:

Illegal immigration: to do something...anything at all...why is that even a question?

Sometimes you have to wonder why we are engaging in debate regarding illegal immigration at all. Sure, people across the country think this is an issue that needs to be addressed, maybe not right at present since the presidential election campaigns are in full swing, smoke screening away anything that could look like an intelligible stance in favor of trying to win over swing state voters, the women's vote, the black vote, the Hispanic vote...remember when politicians just competed for voters?

At the same time efforts are being ramped up in parts of the southwest United States, other factions or government bodies are doing everything in their powers-that-be to hamstring or deliberately derail any kind of enforcement that makes sense. Guess building a multi-million dollar series of posts for people to simply walk sideways through is the kind of common sense approach being eyeballed by the pro-illegal immigration forces.

In California, for example, the state assembly recently proved without a shadow of a doubt why I have absolutely no use for the state of California. I mean, if they slide off the map following the 'big one," fear not...the p**n industry will live on in Vegas and Arizona, and that's just for starters. The state assembly defeated a bill that would have removed automatic protection for illegal immigrants who commit DUI offenses. For all the negativity the GOP has been getting this election year, I find it interesting the only two (TWO?!?) who voted for the bill were Republicans. The remainder...all Democrats...decided that merely driving drunk, hitting and injuring, maiming, and killing people was not that big a deal for their friends, the illegal immigrants. Remember this the next time you hear something about the "do-nothing Democrats," because you can prove them wrong, or at least in California. They may not do much, but they are certainly willing to ignore the safety and well-being of lawful citizens and drivers in their state.

Meanwhile, according to U.S. News & World Report this week, law enforcement agencies are increasing not only the number of arrests, but the number of prosecutions. Critics are saying this is increasing the burden on an already overcrowded court system, despite statistics showing a drop as much as 72% in the number of apprehensions in some areas in the Southwest, as well as driving illegal immigrants to cross into the country at a different location.

Illegally crossing the border elsewhere may account for the drop in arrests, but then again, one could also surmise the drop is attributed to less illegal immigrants actually being arrested, due to the bang-up job already underway in securing our southwestern border. I say that is cause for optimism. After all, if they are moving further southeast to cross, then eventually, if this trend were to continue, they simply would not be entering illegally at all, then would they? They will have run out of places to sneak across, ergo problem solved.

Ah, but therein lies the rub. Good luck even trying to arrest illegal immigrants without creating a giant controversy. In Maricopa County, Arizona, the infamous Sheriff Joe Arpaio is at it again, and the sad statement of that is doing his job has become classified as "being at it again."

Despite acting well within not only his legal authority as Sheriff, but an agreement with the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, Arpaio conducted sweeps in late March and early April, in which the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department arrested 150 people, of whom 73 turned out to be illegal immigrants. Of course you know, this has proved to be a problem.

Officials in no less than three Arizona cities have called Arpaio to task for this brazen and completely uncalled for action. The chief of the Mesa Police Department wants two days' notice, so he can "prepare" the city's officers for any unrest. What? Seriously? This sounds more to me like "Sheriff's Department conducting sweeps...look busy guys, don't want to give them the impression we're slackers," which apparently they are, since they don't feel like arresting illegal immigrants. Under a task force Arpaio created in 2005, the MCSD has arrested 900 illegal immigrants under an Arizona human smuggling law. Guess Mesa PD's too busy writing traffic tickets or hassling skateboarders and kids in pot t-shirts to worry about things like that.

Not to outdone by the Mesa police chief, Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon called for the Feds to investigate civil rights' violations. Gordon thinks Arpaio should be busy arresting people on outstanding warrants, not because they are "driving with a broken taillight or have brown skin." What a remarkable senseless statement to make. I hope they have term limits in Phoenix, because too much sun and too much self-importance  together seems to be a really bad thing. Makes you dense. Listen up, Mayor Gordon, and listen as hard as you possibly can...driving with a broken taillight is illegal-a cop WILL pull you over for it. Your "brown skin" remark was crass, inflammatory, and smacks more of the political "grandstanding" than you and colleagues have been accusing Joe Arpaio of. Take a deep breath and go get some shade, Phil, let the adults do the heavy lifting here.

The hands-down winner in the "unfamiliar with the concept" derby has to be Guadalupe, Arizona mayor Rebecca Jiminez, who went so far as to state that the efforts of the MCSD were unwelcome. "We did not request them here," was how her honor put it, neverminding the fact that the town of 6,000 people rely on the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department for their police protection. The town is looking for a new police department to patrol its streets. I wish them luck. In a fair and just world, when the fit did hit the shan, and the town called the county sheriff's office for help, they would be told, "sorry about that. We do not take requests."

Skip these books...see what's on TV, instead...

Man, oh sakes, oh f**king gosh. just when I thought it couldn't have gotten any worse than O.J. Simpson and Lynne Spears ghost-smearing some s**t on some pages, slapping an overpriced hardcover on it, and ignoring public outrage and disdain all the way to the bank. Seriously, who gives a s**t if the book flops? You already got your advance...like you really give a crap at that point whether or not you hit the best-seller list?

Now, we have word of pending books by both Amy Winehouse and Miley Cyrus. Winehouse and her pitiful bag of gobsmacked eurotrash have allegedly been offered in the neighborhood of $2 million to write a tell-all on their marriage. My first problem with this is obvious...a tell-all book is so f**king unnecessary in this situation...even less so than usual. I mean, for the love of holy damn, all you or anyone sighted has to do is merely look at that skanky wreck, and all is told for you...$2 million for that? Maybe Winehouse will take the money and get so skinny she disappears all the f**k together...

As for Miley Cyrus, she recently signed a "seven-figure" deal with the Disney Book Group (who the f**k could not have seen that one coming?) to write her...uh...memoirs was how the article put it. Memoirs? The kid's only 15...I mean, she's just now in her first picture scandal, and it's just a bra and a midriff...hardly the stuff to make Bill O'Reilly drink an extra shot of dumba** before his so-called TV show, or is it?...The book, expected to be released in-step with a Hannah Montana feature film, will reportedly cover Cyrus' life in Tennessee on the way up, and her upbringing. Uh...yay? Maybe she should just publish her diary, instead. But that would just further peak the interest of Bill-O...granted, if the bra shot was included.

Ah, yes...back to the days when suck ruled the late-night airwaves...

So Jimmy Fallon is the guy NBC has tabbed to replace Conan O'Brien as the host of Late Night after O'Brien takes The Tonight Show over from Jay Leno next year? Somehow, I'm glad I'll be watching something else...damn near anything else...at that time...once NBC gives up and hands over the late shift to the 4th most unfunny guy in show business, right behind Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia, and Tom freakin' Green.
