Let me get this straight- Lindsay Lohan wants her new album's style to be influenced by Kylie Minogue and Rihanna. Great, so now that her film career seems to be on life support, barring any sex tapes being leaked in the next few months or unless you consider racking up a basket full of Razzies to be "critical acclaim," she is now backpedaling to inflict another album upon us?
I was not one of the many who jumped all over the "Marilyn" photoshoot bandwagon, on either the pro or con side. I felt it was harmless. I mean, by this point in the general scheme of things, it is hardly surprising that Lindsay (or any other Lohan, for that matter) have done nudes, posed or otherwise. For all the hype this seemed to generate, there is one saving grace to the project that no one has latched on to. Regardless of who she was or was not trying to emulate in the photoshoot, she was quiet, frozen with a 1000-yd stare on her face, which I'm sure was not a stretch for Ms. Lohan, but quiet nonetheless.
Yep. Silence is in fact golden, even if it's the ridden-hard, yet to be put away Lindsay Lohan not acting, or singing, or driving, or even speaking...the closest I believe Ms. Lohan can possibly get to achieving that perfect balance of celebrity existence without irritating the 94% of us who could give two s**ts and a f**k about all the hoopla (or the varied percentage of us who simply like to comment on it in often harshly amusing or other less constructive fashions).

Talk about should have quit while you were ahead. Over in Virginia, Donna Blanton was convicted for the second time of the murder of her husband, a trooper with the state police. When convicted the first time around, back in 2005, Blanton received a 28 year sentence, but won an appeal after it was determined gender issues skewed jury selection in the trial.
So, how did Blanton fair the second time around? Not so well, as it would turn out. Commonwealth's Attorney Tony Spencer asked the jury for a life sentence, and that was exactly what they gave Blanton. Then again, after reading the story on the appeal and its subsequent backfire, I started thinking "maybe the people of Virginia are actually on to something."
Not that the American justice system isn't already a crap shoot, in some respects, but make it more of a literal gamble. Tack on the time an appeal wasted, if it was a B.S. waste of time. I understand the need for the right to appeal, but all too often slam dunk convictions become cases that never end, thanks to the appeals process. If you were nailed by video tape or incontrovertible DNA evidence, then any stupid appeals should cost you, in time, the waste of time of resources the court had to exercise in its efforts to keep you in jail. And do not give me that "cost of jailing people" argument...while it's true, the sad fact is this country has absolutely no problem jailing someone, so it won't really get you anywhere.
Not that Blanton's case was a slam dunk, that I know of, but after having a new trial, in a new location, with a new jury, she was apparently found even guiltier the second time around. Sounds like someone should have taken the gender issue in the jury selection, and just sat down, shut up, and worked on that good behavior time.
No word on whether or not Blanton is planning another appeal, but if she does, I'm more than curious to see if she can manage to get even more time added on the third trip through...

I've said it before, and after reading this story, it bears repeating- the worst thing to ever happen to religion was the organization of it. When you have gaggles of people...we'll call them the faithful, running around to gain some measure of faith from an "image" of the Virgin Mary or of Christ on a f**king toaster bagel, even those hints of a higher purpose seem to go by the wayside.
Now comes word of a new vision drawing flocks of people on a mission to lay eyes on a "miracle." I know what you are probably thinking at this point. Pray tell, what manner of delicious breakfast food or tasty snack cake did a religious icon deliver divine intervention upon?
There's the problem. This story takes place in India, so it's not a food. The only food they pray to is perfectly content to watch them die of starvation, but appreciates the heck out of the prayers. Nope, the faithful in India don't have time to find food they can't eat for fear of damnation (or bad karma...I forget how that works), they needs a big-time vision, something that can't be easily dismissed like a piece of toast or some mold on the door of a fridge.
So what relatively mundane object did everybody get thee in front of and stare it with breathless hope? Would you believe the f**king sun? Somehow, I can believe this, as well as I can believe that nearly fifty people have blinded themselves what could either be called a stunning example of God's cruel design, or fits of dumba** rapture. The Kottayam district has reported patients streaming in with burnt retinas from eyeballing the sun. Churches have lept into action, warning their congregation of the downside to sungazing. I have to wonder, though, how many people are actually listening. I mean, what does the church know about miracles?
The image is reported to appear in the sky over the house formerly owned by a hotel owner. Of course, this guy had also said, at one time, that he had statues of the Virgin Mary that cried honey and bled oils and perfumes, so everything seems just a tad coincidental there, and last time I checked, a coincidence is a far cry from a miracle. All I can advise the people in that part of the third world, I mean India, is that next time you see the light, just nod and move on...no sense blinding yourself just because you're a god-fearin person and all.

Damn, wasn't aware we could ramble quite that much...I don't think we made it halfway through the notes for last night, but what the hell? I think it worked pretty well.
$5 a pop for stray cats and dogs in Randolph, Iowa? Tough time to be a pet owner in that neck of the middle of nowhere. Like I said last night, I bet ya the stray pet racket replace copper theft as the illegal side income of choice in or abouts Randolph, Iowa.
Still absolutely amazed by the concept of bringing in volunteer couch potatoes to act as "ringers" on park benches in a high-end part of San Diego. Yeah, stay classy. Wonder what Bill O'Reilly thinks, seeing as how he hardly believes in the homeless (I can't remember if it's in large numbers or at all). Even less surprising to me no one has taken up so-called "community activist" Esther Viti on her proposal. They're all at home, thinking either "f**k it, let the homeless get the fresh air, Next Friday's on USA," or "God, this Esther Viti chick is a massive douchebag." The first seems more likely, but the second seems more accurate.
Well done to Colorado, Alabama, Mississippi, and Missouri, as well as any other states that have or are looking into legislation to make child rape a death penalty-eligible offense. Now, if a state or two could figure out how to prevent the majority of death row inmates from old age...
Now that Bob "Gilligan" Denver and Dawn "Mary Ann" Wells from Gilligan's Island have both been busted for marijuana possession, who do you think's gonna be the next one to take a collar? I can't call it, as I couldn't tell you who's still alive from that show or not...but still can't wait to see.
Chad Kroeger...big rockstar, but perhaps a little too desperate for beer when he was growing up. On the positive side, it is good to see that he has something to fall back on just in cause the music thing doesn't pan out.
In response to Chicago's recent mulling over of banning mini-ziploc bags, the dope game in Chicago has announced a breakthrough to combat the ban...it's called bigger bags, you dumba**es. What the f**k, will that city ban anything? Why don't they try to ban dead people voting?
