Please join me every Thursday at 12:00 Noon (EST) at www.blogtalkradio.com/marymoon and step out into your Last Miracle Mile! Listen, as I read to you from The Last Miracle Mile and share with you what I’ve learned about the trauma of victimization. I know firsthand about healing from the trauma of being victimized, and it’s my intent to teach others what I’ve learned so they can empower their lives. Mine is not your typical self-help book; it’s an inspiring hope filled story of healing, and forgiveness.

Why Talk Radio Was Invented. Hosted by author/syndicated columnist Dr. Thomas Keister and "The Internet Legend," ppdingles, the show takes an often cynical look at the best, the worst, and the least damn surprising of the week you're amazed you've only made it halfway through. Current events, politics, entertainment, pop culture, we discuss all the crap getting beamed into space to state the case we're an intelligent species. Yeah...we're boned...
Dr. Thomas Keister

As always, it was another incredible all-new episode of Probably Uncalled For, the internationally acclaimed talk radio hit on Blog Talk Radio! The 3rd Season may be winding down, but that hardly stopped us, as we tore into the great new street drug in Britain, with the not so great side effects, Sarah Palin quitting yet something else over the Thanksgiving holiday, life imitating art in Palo Alto, California, a mind-boggling new Dumb Import, a twinbill of bank robbery fails, El Rushbo committing sedition on his radio show once again, Michael Vick, Twilight, and a great escape down in Texas, among other scintillating topics to be announced! Come find out what the world is listening to!
Date / Time: 12/31/2007 1:20 AM UTC
It's been fun watching the Ron Paul juggernaut run amok in the hunt for the GOP presidential nomination. Kind of telling when a long-time Republican congressman (and former Libertarian Party candidate for President) is gaining some kind of momentum (not to mention great press coverage) in a crowded hot mess of candidates. Of course, the statement could be made that Paul's Libertarian past may be catching up with him, as he has been excluded from a FOX News forum on January 6, just two days from the New Hampshire primary. As a former third-party candidate, I'm sure Paul is used to watching the debates rather than engaging in them, but you gotta love how this work. Even Alan Keyes' crazy a** made it on a stage for a debate. Ron Paul has considerable attention from the mainstream media, but Alan Keyes is allowed into a debate, and Paul isn't? Admit it, your first thought when you saw Alan Keyes in Des Moines was "crap, who let him chew through the restraints again?," wasn't it?
It's hard to argue that Ron Paul doesn't have support in New Hampshire, which makes FOX's decision puzzling. Not overly surprising, but puzzling nonetheless.
While I doubt this will lead to widespread mobilization of Ron Paul supporters, around the same time, a much funnier rallying call was trumpeted out. On New Year's Day, a rally of Ron Paul supporters on World of Warcraft will be held at 8:30 pm Eastern.
This is good stuff, don't care who you ask. I know politicians are becoming more keenly aware of the influential aspects of social networking, but this may be one of the last great comedy goldmines - politics merging with aspects of the virtual world. Do you think Ron Paul will earn the endorsements of William Shatner, Shaman or Mr. T, Nightelf Mohawk? I remember back to some of my previous market research projects, where I was joining the rest of the phone monkeys, endlessly tormenting those who stayed on the phone longer than fifteen seconds as to how they were planning on voting, throwing out a couple of helpful reminders for the candidate we were schilling.
One time, it was "reminding" people of a rally in Central Park for Barack Obama. As odd as it was to rattle off the intersection where the rally was being organized, since I hadn't been to New York since 1976, when I was all of eleven months old, how weird it would be, I thought, to try and direct people from Ironforge to Stormwind.
I'm Dr. Thomas Keister, Renaissance Telemarketer, and I could give two s**ts and a f**k what your game is. If you are gonna get political, get outside and f**king do something. If you just want to stay the f**k inside and whomp some ass with a battle axe, so be it. Just try to figure out if you are reading Editorial page of the newspaper or another RPG manual before you leave the house. In the real world, showing up for a political rally with a battle axe could get you tased, and God knows we do NOT need a medieval take on "don't tase me, bro!" running loose upon the Internet.
Gotta go. Thinking about declaring my candidacy for the presidency in 2012. Thinking about courting the XBox live vote...

The more I hear about Hannah Montana, the less I freaking get it. Do not take that to mean I do not understand the show, as there is very little about Hannah Montana that could be considered cerebral, but I don't understand the overwrought mad dog panic that seems to grip large portions of this country when the Montana tour bus comes chugging into their city or town, as the case may be.
I mean, honestly, have you ever seen and/or heard an episode of Hannah Montana? And yet, people are just this side shy of throwing bleach in each other's eyes to score a shot at the tickets, and paying thousands of dollars to get them. Tens of thousands of dollars. That is pure f**king ludicrous, right there. That's like t***y bars that do not serve alcohol- it defies all logic, and is no unnecessary as to almost be just a little bit painful. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing PG-13 and below is worth tens of thousands of dollars, and this especially rings true if you have seen an episode of this s**t.
In light of other asinine behavior in connection with the fad star, perhaps the worst story yet- and this is courtesy of a woman and her 6 year-old daughter. In a contest sponsored by Club Libby Lu (who or what the f**k ever that is), participants sent in an essay explaining why they should be spared the physically and financially dangerous experience of coughing up a small fortune to hear a 15 year-old lip synch three Disney channel jingles, in the years before she fades from relevance and drops a mediocre Playboy spread on us. You know the kind, you're in the latter third of the magazine, you get to the first picture, and all of a sudden, you are "hhmpph. She's still alive, huh? Thank god for airbrush and ambient lighting."
So this 6 year-old girl turns in an essay. I can only imagine the syntax and emotion in an essay written by a 6 year-old. If you have ever had a 6 year-old try to tell you a joke, or how his/her day went, then you know just as well as I do that this is not going to translate well into print.
The essay went straight for the heart, starting out "My daddy died this year in Iraq." Her father, Army Sgt. Jonathon Menjivar, was killed in a roadside explosion on April 17, according to the essay. After winning, the girl was treated to a makeover, complete with little celebration, cameras rolling the whole while. Can't miss a minute of this, can we? I mean, after all, only a godless, d**kless, spineless potential communist would deny this little girl, right?
Here's where the fun starts. Apparently, the Dallas Morning News did a little checking here and there, discovering that, in fact, no Sgt. Jonathon Menijavar from any branch of service has been killed in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense. Club Libby Lu, whom I'm sure has walked away from this experience with a new take on how they run their contests, did not check into the accuracy of the essay, taking it for what it was, and with nothing but the best of expectations. Idiots. That'll learn them.
Priscilla Ceballos, the mother of the 6 year-old, ducked and dodged a reporter who came asking questions, but had admitted the essay was as full of s**t as 99% of the s**t involving the s**t in Iraq, according to Club Libby Lu yeshole Robyn Caulfield. Ceballos also decided to employ her caller ID in a strategic fashion, as she also kept a low profile on the phone.
While the whole scenario is just tasteless enough, it does manage to get even dumber at the same time, no small feat given the variables in this f**king mess. After all of this, Club Libby Lu is going to to give the kid the prize anyway. What? WTF? Holy damn, seriously, what the f**k? This kid's mom lied, and had her 6 year-old daughter help with the scam- and they are going to go ahead and reward this kid and her repugnant, less-than-s**t mother with four tickets and airfare to a sold-out Hannah Montana concert in Albany, New York.
Yeah, glad to see this kid's gonna take away something positive, a good solid life lesson from this experience. How can this s**t not set the clear example it is not only okay to lie and cheat, up to and including exploiting the deaths of American soldiers in Iraq, to get want you want, and it's all okay, just because a 6 year-old was told she was going to see Hannah Montana by the people at Club Libby. May be thoughtful to not want to break a promise to a 6 year-old, but the kid is going to have to learn to live with disappointment as well as the concept of right or wrong, if anyone bothers to teach her. How is this kid going to think any differently the next time around? It may be a little presumptuous to think there is going to be a next time around, but then again, by this point I think the people have earned the right of presumption, not much of a consolation prize, I know.
What I would like to see would be the packed house in Albany introduced to the two who rode a fictional soldier's corpse all the way to the show right before the concert begins. I'm sure it would not prevent any of the kids from enjoying the show, but I'm damn sure willing to bet there would be a few parents taking a brief moment to ponder how far they went (or would go) to get those very same tickets.

I understand the whole walk before you run principle, but damn, this defies belief. As Christmas approached, Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 all at a lumber mill, where they promptly busted up a teenage drinking party, laying down the legal smack on several Amish youths for underage alcohol possession. Apparently, one of the kids had dialed up 911 for whatever the hell reason. Must be the greatest case of dumb luck ever. I mean, how many times previously do you think this kid has used the phone?
Then again, to be fair, I have never partied down with the Amish. I'm not saying I'm adverse to raising some hell, but somehow, the concept of raising heck just never quite translated well to me.
Maybe it was a clandestine orgy of ankle flashing and heavy eye-balling. God only knows, and if He's talking, Pat Robertson's crazy a** ain't passing it along to the rest of us. Besides, who the fuck parties in a lumber mill? Drunken barn raising is no way to go through life, and I sincerely hope the Chautauqua County sheriffs gave it to them in clear black-and-white, mostly 18th century English.

Man, and here I was, thinking that New Year's had lost a little bit when the warranty apparently ran out on the robotic Dick Clark. Kathy Hilton is auctioning off a chance to party with her daughters on New Year's Eve. While I seriously doubt this is the first time, at any level, that the Hilton sisters have been pimped out, at least this time there is an altruistic goal- raising dough for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I had heard that Pamela Anderson Lee Rock Soloman Hamilton Skywalker O'Hara Olajawon wanted to work with them, but there was some kind of immune system issue.
As this is being written, bidding on eBay had reached $3050. All I can do is sigh. I'd maybe throw a $100 Nikki's way, you know, for the effort, but Paris? I'd giver her a $10 and a cheeseburger, only half hoping she'll choke on that motherf**ker on the way out the door. Not to mention, how sad is it when a 2-for-1 deal, including the world's most fascinating skank, has not yet reached $3500, which is the amount of cash you'd need to bring frankencelebrity Tara Reid to cast an uncomfortable shadow at your club opening or topless intervention. At the very least, this is what happens when "20 bucks, same as in town" meets red carpet inflation.
If you have the time, the money, and the utter lack of self-respect, control, or restraint, then by all means, head off to eBay and throw down a bid. More power to you if you win. I mean, all the cash goes to charity, right? But when it's all said and done, right before the hangover wears off and the itch flares up, hang yourself. F**king seriously, hang yourself like Michael Hutchence with a belt and nothing better to do in a hotel room.
There was some other, slightly more dignified amusement to be had from Planet Hilton, however. On Wednesday, Barron Hilton, notably rich SOB what is Nikki and Paris' grandfather, announced he was bestowing 97% of his estimated $2.3. billion fortune to charity.
There have been statements made over the years that neither sister really has all that much money, and it's a safe bet, as both have also had to show the entrepreneurial spirit (no matter how misguided the attempt was in the end). How else can one explain the puzzling, no...inexplicable rise of Paris Hilton to professional celebrity.
Of course, there have also been statements regarding Barron Hilton's embarrassment over the antics of his granddaughter, and I find that highly likely as well, although, per standard operating procedure, none of the Hiltons (surprisingly enough) were available for comment.
You want a good time on New Year's? Take that three grand and head off to Vegas. Hell, go to Omaha, Nebraska. Tell them I sent you. They won't know who the hell I am, but that's not important right now, so focus. Who needs the hassle of both the hounding paparazzi and having to find the phone number to the free clinic in the morning? Doesn't sound like it's worth three grand to me.

Man, they say timing is everything. Jessica Simpson's latest cinematic crime against the public, Blonde Ambition, hit the big screen in limited release last night, playing in eight theaters in Texas. This comes after some confusion as to whether or not the movie was going to be a direct-to-DVD or theatrical release (to help, the DVD is already available online). Playing on only eight screens, I don't suppose you should expect giant numbers or anything, right? I mean, isn't that why movies have that "in limited cities, then everywhere" release system? Three hundred forty-eight dollars. That's $348.00, presumably all American currency, and that's what Blonde Ambition grossed Friday night.
Always breathtaking to be there when they hit the exact bottom. Not rock bottom, the bottom just past it. You know, next to the Pauly Shore section at the video rental place.
Been a bad week for her and Tony Romo. I mean, first Simpson and her pink jersey are on hand for the worst statistical game of Romo's career, leading to a loss to Philadelphia. Yeah, I think it just may be safe to assume that she is what we like to call box office poison. Not that her presence meant anything in relation to the game, but it was amusing to hear the possibility of the curse of Jessica mentioned around football chat rooms and the like over the last week. Makes me kind of curious as to why they would decide to have the limited release in Texas, given her sudden spike in popularity in Texas.
Perez Hilton, showing depth as a double threat- pudgy celebrity obsessant AND mathematician, crunched the numbers down to an average of six people per theater at an average price of eight bucks, forty-eight people in all.
There's an ego boost. I now have at least two instances, that I know of off the top of my head, that I have outsuccessed Simpson (I know, the relative equivalent of winning a scratch-off lotto ticket, cosmically speaking, but bear with me here, folks).
In December 2002, I co-promoted a professional wrestling event that drew 125 people, and with freezing rain falling. See, right there tells you something. I had to type that out, because it's more than one hundred. Even Simpson's freakin' movie, whatever wasted budget went into it, didn't draw that, and that was in eight theaters, as opposed to the one former middle school gymnasium our event went down in.
An eighth of the coverage, a zillionth of the budget, and fighting the elements the whole way, I still did at least two-and-a-half times better than the gaggle of schmoes who squeezed this one onto the big screen. Odd side note- Justin Berfield, who played the second oldest brother on Malcolm in the Middle, is listed as a producer on this. Who would have guessed he kept a little leftover suck from that show to pass on to future projects.
Secondly, I have outdone Simpson in Texas, raising over $500 in one day as a "compensated fundraiser," and during a Cowboys playoff game, to boot. Who's a bad motherf**ker? Telemarketing, I received a more positive reception than Jessica Simpson. Telemarketing. Not that I'm my biggest fan, but even I hate my ass when I am on the phones. By the blank stare and Stepford grin, Simpson's obviously having just an absolute blast. And I hope it burns, too. Yeah, take that, Hollywood, and smear it all over Simpson's next, ahem, project, the ironically-entitled Major Movie Star (another and hopefully ALL the way directly-to-DVD release), in the hopes it will propel it too into obscurity in the blink of an eye.
In closing, I now wait for Hollywood to come a knockin at my door, offering an expense account and two production assistants to allow me to write a script that's at least as good as any Sci-Fi Channel original (I am at least THAT confident in my creative abilities, given the three to four rewrites that will tack on another two or three writers for whom to share the blame), which guarantees it will be three times better than Jessica Simpson's next flick. Guaranteed. Better act quick, studio moguls, I would need four days, maybe a fifth if there's like a car chase or something in there, to cinch a better effort than the pizza spokeschick. That's what she does right, other than movies? I can't keep track of these things.

Irony, thy name is survey...
In a survey released Tuesday, conducted by readers of BNET.com, 77 percent of employees said that CEOs were overpaid. Yeah, not overly surprising, there, but it does lead me to wonder about the 23 percent that do not, in fact, think their boss is like, MLB-overpaid. The a** kissers. Interesting to me was that 64 percent of top execs agreed that they are overpaid, in addition to 54 percent not believing their leadership style was effective.
So, let me get this straight. While maybe 80-85, to be fair, all CEOs and top level management are grossly, vastly, or (insert adverb here) overpaid, nearly two-thirds of the very same executives are more than willing to strap on the golden parachute. What puzzles me is why only 54 percent think their management style isn't working. If you have the parachute, why exactly do you care if the plane's going down?
