With BlogTalkRadio, Ning Apps Empower Ning Networks with
Even More Flexibility and Customization to Support Interests and Passions Online
NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2009 – BlogTalkRadio today announced it is launching its proprietary application on Ning, the social platform for interests and passions online. By joining forces with Ning, the opportunity to host a radio show using the BlogTalkRadio app is now available to more than 1.5 million Ning Networks and 33 million Ning Network members.
Ning Network Creators now have even greater choice over the features and applications they can add to Ning Networks to create the perfect social experience for a given topic, interest or passion. Today, Ning Apps are available for e-commerce, information, education, causes and entertainment.
The BlogTalkRadio app enables any Ning Network Creator to host their own live, online radio show and stream the conversation to their members. The BlogTalkRadio app provides Ning Networks with an easy way to create and share compelling audio content using only a phone and an Internet connection.
“We developed the BlogTalkRadio app so that Ning users can leverage all the features and benefits of the BlogTalkRadio platform to create and share conversations on the topics that matter most to them,” said Alan Levy, founder and CEO of BlogTalkRadio. “From individuals to large corporations, BlogTalkRadio empowers ‘citizen journalists’ everywhere with the ability to quickly and directly connect with their audience anytime with engaging, interactive audio content. We expect this relationship with Ning to help us accelerate the reach of our platform, and we’re excited to be working with them.”
Ning Apps extend the Ning Platform by providing more than 90 new diverse and rich applications like BlogTalkRadio for Ning Network Creators. With Ning Apps, a Ning Network Creator can now add the BlogTalkRadio app to expand the functionality of their Ning Network and increase engagement by their members.
BlogTalkRadio is the largest and fastest growing social radio network that allows users to create free, live call-in talk shows with unlimited participants. The shows are automatically archived, syndicated, and shared on Ning, Facebook, Twitter and iTunes, as well through RSS feeds. The BlogTalkRadio network has tens of thousands of hosts, who have produced hundreds of thousands of episodes since it launched in August of 2006.
The Ning Platform provides a new way for BlogTalkRadio to reach more people, faster. Rather than being added by individual members, when a Ning Network Creator adds the BlogTalkRadio app to their Ning Network, by default it’s available to all members automatically, regardless of whether a Ning Network has 100, 1,000 or 1 million members.
“Ning is committed to being the social platform for the world’s interests and passions,” said Jay Parikh, senior vice president of product engineering. “The BlogTalkRadio application is a great example of the innovative and creative set of diverse features Ning Apps offer the more than 33 million members of Ning Networks today.”
