BlogTalkRadio Surpasses 1 Million Uniqiue On-site Users

NEW YORK, February 24, 2009  - BlogTalkRadio , a rapidly-emerging broadcast medium, announced today that, in January, it surpassed one million unique on-site users, according to a leading Internet-analytics service Compete.com.

That milestone, which excludes off-site listenership that comprises millions more listeners, represents a year-over-year rise of 418 percent. Additionally during January, visitors to the network were engaged for an average of 12 minutes each.

Another key development for BlogTalkRadio is the steady addition of new corporate partnerships.  Mediabistro.com and PBS’s flagship station are the most recent companies to use this rapidly-expanding medium to extend their brands and monetize content.  These brands join names like Sun Microsystems, Hachette Book Group and Woman’s Day, who are directly connecting with their key stakeholders on BlogTalkRadio.

Recent guests on the network have included the Jonas Brothers, Al Franken, Maya Angelou, Don King, Chuck Norris, Tucker Carlson and “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle.

“BlogTalkRadio has emerged as the dominant player in the latest media trend: live, interactive broadcasts that are immediately available on-demand,” said Alan Levy, Founder and CEO of BlogTalkRadio. “The network continues to empower major brands, celebrities, politicians and ‘citizen broadcasters’ to create and share their views and opinions in a public, worldwide forum to an audience of more than 3.5 million listeners a month.”

“By all measures, 2008 was a banner year for BlogTalkRadio,” added Levy. “We’re thrilled with see such tremendous growth and look forward to 2009 as our new medium continues to be embraced across all sectors.”

Since its launch in the fall of 2006, BlogTalkRadio has broadcast more than 200,000 episodes, and currently has more than 10,000 active hosts creating in excess of 20,000 new episodes per month.
