None of us really likes the idea of change by Marla Cilley

What is it about change that terrifies us? Part of the problem with change is being pulled out of our comfort zone. We become complacent with the way things are, because we don't like to rethink.

Learning and trying new things keep the spark alive in us. Think of it as a campfire that is burning. It gives you warmth only if you keep the fire stoked with good fuel. We all need fuel to keep us stoked with enthusiasm. As I have always said: "If something is fun, it will get done." I have a personal mission statement: Find joy in everything I do and be a loving, devoted wife to my sweet darling. A few years ago I dropped the last part of this mission statement. I realized that if I was finding joy in everything that I do, then the second part happened automatically. That joy and excitement is contagious.

Leanne Ely and I have been doing a radio show for several years. At first we were guests on "The Mom Show." When the moms decided to stop doing their show, we began our own. We called our show "The FLY Show." This stood for FlyLady, Leanne and You. This was an Internet call-in show, and anyone who had a computer could listen live or download it to hear us at their convenience on their iPod, MP3 player or computer. We loved doing our show, because the listener became the program director. We never knew what was going to happen on the show. We did FLY by the seat of our pants most of the time, but it was fun.

Or it was till early summer; at that time the Internet radio company was purchased by another company and all of a sudden their Web site made it so hard on our members, it broke my heart. Even I had trouble finding our show and downloading it. Now if I can't do it, then it is too difficult for my FlyBabies. We don't want to have think too hard to make something happen; Web sites need to be intuitive to help those of us who are only good at turning them on.

Every Thursday when my sweet darling would come home from work, he would ask, "How was the show today?" He could see by the frown on my face that there had been problems. Our callers were the highlight of the day but the problem was with everything from servers to other equipment. Robert would say, "How much longer are you going to continue with this frown on your face?" Then he reminded me of my motto to find joy in everything I do.

Last Thursday the straw broke the camel's back. We did not have a live feed. All I could think about were the FlyBabies who looked forward to our show each week. Immediately we began to receive e-mails wanting to know where the show was. I picked up the phone and contacted a new friend at BlogTalkRadio.com. I asked if there was anyway we could get a show on the air in 15 minutes. Before we knew it we were live doing our show on: www.BlogTalkRadio.com.

Let me say that sometimes change is good. The less we have to think about it the better it is on us. When I found out about this great new tool a week ago I could not believe that anyone who wanted to could broadcast for free. Yes, you heard me right. You too can be a talk show host with just a telephone and a computer. I think this would be a great tool for grandparents. The possibilities are endless. I even told my veterinarian Clyde Brooks he should do a show. He has lots of fans from his new book "Tending Critters in the Ridges."
