Humans, by nature and rite are survivalists. We have survived millenia upon this planet in its harshest and most dangerous conditions. As well as within recent centuries, ralaxed and lavished in its most comfortable setting. Why is this? Why as humans do we choose to survive? Could it be something as simple and primal as instinct? or perhaps a more specific reason, that calls a little closer to home?
Well join me Florida's Tactical Fatty as I talk about the different reasons there are to prep and ready yourself to survive!

Doctor Prepper‘s show guest today is Laurie Neverman, creator of Common Sense Home, one of the most popular homesteading sites on the Internet.
Laurie Neverman is a professional engineer, author, preparedness expert, and an accomplished ex-urban homesteader. Laurie mixes her skills and talents on subjects from green building to wildcrafting, with the best of traditional and modern tech with a twist of humor to present self-reliance information in a way that makes sense to everyone.
I asked her these questions during the show:
Why did you choose a more self-reliant lifestyle? What were/are your homesteading priorities? What are some of the things you’ve accomplished? Laurie and her husband rent out a portion of their acreage to a nearly organic farmer. The balance is a combination of wild areas (used for foraging), annual and perennial gardens, orchards, and a small but growing assortment of permaculture crops. They are in the process of constructing a larger greenhouse to expand their food production options.
Raised on a small dairy farm in NW Wisconsin, Laurie has many years of experience with producing her own food. This comes together with her college training in math and engineering, plus years of personal studies in health, herbalism, and preparedness to give readers a “hands-on homesteading” experience. This family lives what they write about, and they can teach you to be more self-reliant, too.
This week we are going to review some of Preparing for the Worst, Hoping for the Best ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/preparingfortheworst/ ) top posts and mention some of the better comments- so be listening and maybe we will share your comments!
We will also be covering storm safety some too, as Houston will be most likely flooding this week again. Aren't you tired of this crazy weather, too?
Do you know what a militia is? I discuss militias as well as why we need them today.
1. I will discuss the Islamic State and the FACT that they have camps in Mexico and sleeper cells in most major cities.
2. Are Militias legal? I will answer that.
3. What kind of gear should you have? I'll do an entire show just for this, but I'll briefly cover it here.
I will take all calls, but militia members get priority, as a precaution, all militia members are asked to refer to themselves by callsign and not real name.
Homestead Technologies started by Justin Kitch is one of America's biggest success stories. Kitch started Homestead Technologies in a spare room while living with 5 roomates at college. Homestead technologies sold to Intuit for $176 million dollars. Intuit kept Kitch on as an adviser but in 2012 sold Homestead Technologies to EIG Endurance International Group. EIG is a giant among cheap hosting companies with 35+ companies owned by EIG worldwide.
When EIG bought out Bluehost and Hostgator they moved them to SERVER FARMS. The move took nearly 4 days and created numerous technical problems. EIG moved Homestead Technologies to a Server Farm on November 19th 2014 and has shut their 70k users out of their Sitebuilder LPX/Desktop. Service interruptions were mounting as an alternative to Sitebuilder LPX/Desktop was offered with much slower speeds namely homestead Techologies Sitebuilder Plus.
Personaly I don't blame EIG for trying to update a 15 year old product that has been neglected for years. Simply put you can't expect to design todays websites with your grandparents sitebuilders. At some point needless and outdated products need to be discarded and new and improved service needs to be added.
From a Flashprepper point of view this is a disaster. It's an online disaster but a disaster none the less. The disaster which is now an online super storm of sorts started 15 years ago with neglect. No money was ever put into Sitebuilder LPX/Desktop. Now 15 years later it as a breaking point. Hosted on old outdated unstable servers EIG made a bold move to update service to Homestead customers.
EIG was quick to call this anything but a disaster and in fact are calling it a MIGRATION. It is a migration to faster speeds, more security, and a better product. Many Homestead members call this migration the worse upgrade EIG could have made and with really bad timing Cyber Monday 2014.
