    If you have been in a public building in San Diego,CA recently you probably have noticed a sign jutting out from the wall that read "AED" and below it you saw a device in a carrying case. AED stands for Automatic External Defibrillator and the organization that is responsible for its installation is San Diego Project Heart Beat. Prepare4 will be talking to Project Heart Beat's Program Coordinator, Maureen O' Connor to learn more about this life saving program and how individuals and business's can get involved. We will also hear from someone who experienced sudden cardiac arrest and benefited from having an AED device within a moments reach. So rest the heart and exercise your mind by learning about these Vital Signs.

    EP #10 "All Along The Fire Tower"

    In recognition of October as Fire Prevention Month Prepare4 Radio has produced a series of podcasts spotlighting different aspects of the fire service. King Herod in the 1st Century C.E. used fire lookout towers to watch for enemies who were burning his empire. Today fire lookouts still watch for the enemy except this time it is fire itself. Fires detected from space are already too large to make accurate assessments for control and cell phones in wilderness areas still suffer from lack of signal. Fire lookout towers remain "in service" because having human eyes being able to detect smoke, and call in the fire, allows fire management officials to decide early how the fire is to be managed. Brad Eells a member of the Forest Fire Lookout Association will speak with Tod about the association, the importance of fire towers and how the listener can get involved in this interesting and truly unique service.

    Episode #7 "Drill 'til You Drop" The Great California ShakeOut-A Statewide Earthquake Drill

    October of '09 will be shakin' and bakin' time in California. In addition to the warm and dry Santa Ana winds "The Great California ShakeOut" a voluntary statewide earthquake drill will be taking place at 10:15am on October 15. The big one is coming and all Californians need to be prepared. Communication Director for the Southern California Earthquake Center, Mark Benthien will be speaking to Prepare4 Radio about the drill, busting earthquake myths and answering some "Earthquake 101" questions. So drop what you are doing hold on and listen to this episode. This is the fourth episode in a four part series recognizing September as National Preparedness Month.
