The American Black Film Festival serves as a powerful platform for
emerging actors and actresses to shine in the black community. The 14th
Annual American Black Film Festival was hosted in Miami Beach which
brought out familiar faces as well as new ones in the film industry.
One familiar face was James Holloway, a finalist and winner of the
HBO’s Short Film Competition in 2009. Last year The Roe Effect, a short
film by Kiel Adrian Scott, won the award and was nominated for the
prestigious Black Reel Award along with a run on HBO and continues to
gain recognition through various mediums. So, Holloway has returned a
second year as his new film, The Cycle was selected as one of the
finalist in this years HBO's Short Film Competition.
Based on actual events, The Cycle takes place in the modern-day
Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, and brings the fallout from an
ongoing gentrification process to life through the stealing of a little
girl's bicycle. The movie is written and directed by Roy Clovis.
James Holloway is not just another pretty face. He has depth, talent and a creative soul.
James aspirations to become an actor began at an early age and was
later developed through stage performances and training with Freedom
Theater in Philadelphia. His experience and training there has propelled
him to take his acting career further.
Holloway has appeared in several publications with rave reviews and
significant film, television, theater, and commercials credits behind
his name, including Law & Order, ABC’s One Life to Live, Sprint,
Olive Garden, and MTV.
Passion, versatility, talent and a love for his art is what he
delivers. Holloway is definitely a name and face to watch in the years
to come. With mannerisms like the Commander in Chief, Holloway hopes to
play the role of President Barack Obama someday.
