a great big thanks to Bob and Jeromy for sharing their personal experiences and offering support and awareness education about HIV/AIDS. You are both an inspiration and are empowering others to feel motivated to do whatever they can to spread the word, not the disease. "Egypt" lost his mother, father and family in just one week. Imagine being too sad to cry. At the age of twelve, his father told him: "I do not want you boy", and then proceeded to cancel child support a day after his mother died. "Egypt" lived with his older sister, Chastity, who made a living as a beautician by day and at night a stripper. Living in cars, selling drugs, fighting, stealing clothes and being arrested on multiple occasions became his life. Yet, despite all these hardships, "Egypt” received his first degree while being on the "Dean's list", graduated with Phi Theta Kappa Honors, was the 147lbs Florida State boxing champion, and is an award winning actor. Egypt took his anger and channeled it into a passion to improve others: much like his sister Chastity helped him. In less than three years, "Egypt" has appeared on Apollo twice, BET’ 106 & Park, MTV, UPN, NBC, National Public Radio, SEVENTEEN Magazine, HIV PLUS magazine, POZ magazine, New York Daily News, Madison's Who's Who of business executives and professionals in addition to a BET special, “Pos or Not?” all for his dynamic work educating people about HIV, Black history, sex, love and politics. He does this through God, motivational speaking, comedy, acting and poetry. He adopted the name "Egypt" because he plans to influence the world as the great African empire has influenced the earth. Ladies and gentlemen,” Egypt" also known as "Devin T. "Robinson X.

POZ I AM - Healing Waters - Erik Bryne

Living with an illness can be very emotionally and physically draining. The psychological toll in itself is huge. Healing Waters exists to help you step outside from all of that for a day or weekend -- we offer incredibly fun weekend and weekday trips open to people with HIV and AIDS. Our participant trips have been designed specifically with the special needs of individuals living with HIV/AIDS in mind. For low fees, we are able to provide transportation, insurance, accommodation (tents, sleeping bags and pads), equipment, instruction, and any warm clothing you may need including rain jackets, wool socks, and much more. The meals we provide are specially designed to be high in protein and nutritionally balanced as well. We also welcome caregivers and partners on our trips regardless of their HIV status, for the same low price. A bit apprehensive? Most people who join us on our trips are new to outdoor sports and many have never been camping. Our programs have been designed to accommodate all skill levels and we strongly encourage beginners to join us! www.hwaters.org

POZ I AM - Richard Berkowitz - Sex Positive

Richard Berkowitz was born in Newark, New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University in 1977. An author and activist, he is probably best known for two landmark writings, which he co-authored along with Dr. Joseph Sonnabend and the late Michael Callen. First, the controversial 1982 New York Native article, "We Know Who We Are: Two Gay Men Declare War on Promiscuity" and second, the self-published 40 page manual, How to Have Sex in an Epidemic: One Approach, in May 1983, which has been hailed as the invention of safe sex and has served as the framework for safe sex campaigns ever since. His 2003 book, Stayin' Alive: The Invention of Safe Sex (Westview Press) tells the story of his life as a sex worker in New York City before and after AIDS. He is the last surviving co-founder of the People with AIDS self-empowerment movement, which helped sparked patient advocacy groups and breast cancer activism. His writing has appeared in dozens of publications and has been quoted, attacked, misrepresented and occasionally praised in scores of books, journals and on-line magazines www.sexpositive-themovie.com

POZ I AM- Dab the AIDS Bear Project

Back in 1981 when Dab1st had friends starting to die from AIDS, the hospitals wouldn't allow visitors into the patient's room unless you wore protective garments (gowns, masks etc.) because they were afraid of this new disease and were not sure how the virus was passed. Because of this, people were usually close to death and had at least one opportunistic infection when they were diagnosed and hospitalized. You could see even seasoned health care professional recoil in fear and not wanting to touch the patients. Even close friends were hesitant or scared to visit their friends in the hospital. Dab started buying Gund teddy bears and giving them to friends so they wouldn't have to feel so alone, abandoned and afraid. That is how Dab the AIDS Bear Project began, Learn more at www.dabtheaidsbearproject.com
