The way I see it, if a couple is unable to conceive then it's a case of infertility, not an infirmity. And if a marriage collapses due to infertility then those spouses never had a true commitment to one another in the first place. If parenthood is that important to them they can always choose to adopt a baby.

I think that dropping a spouse or cheating on them because of an illness or accident that prevents them from having sex (or makes it very difficult and uncomfortable) is very cowardly. The wedding vows do say "in sickness and in health" and "for richer or poorer" for those very reasons.
From my observations it would seem to me that most women would drop a man like soiled panties if he got maimed and/or crippled, and men would do the same for the woman.
