Then, Justine Toms, co-founder of New Dimensions, the media becon that is know for thought and mind changing radio for decades, has authored a new book. Small Pleasures: Finding Grace in a Chaotic World. In it Justine finds that there are five pieces of advice that have consistently served her over the years. They are five insights that have firmly supported her like stepping stones as she crossed the ever changing, chaotic stream of my life. 1) The wisdom of keeping one's mind and heart open. Remaining ever curious about the world. Being open to new questions. In order to nourish the gift of imagination we must remain alive to new and wondrous possibilities. 2) Being active socially and politically by serving others in some way, but, without driving ourselves crazy. It is important to able to anchor oneself in the world with some spiritual practice, or time for introspection, while we continue to be involved and sharing our passions in all of the different layers and levels out in the world. It is analogous to breathing in (one's spiritual practice) and breathing out (one's outer activity in the world). We need the balance of both. 3) Using nature and animals as teachers. Listening beyond the human voices that so dominate our world. 4) Developing a strong sense of community through circles of "friends of the heart." 5) and finally to celebrate fiercely.
