My bookcases have arrived for the DR

Now is time to get them dusted and then populate them w/ books, pottery, etc!

I have ordered my media stand and know where I will get my CD storage unit from.

I wish our zones were 2 weeks long, b/c I don’t get around to all the “daily” missions.

I started in on my MBR last week.  Cleared off the dresser and top of Allie’s crate, which was a major undertaking.  And in trying to put more in the closet, I hung more on the closet "door" (curtain rod), which subsequently collapsed and made a big mess on the floor...

There is also a huge pile of tshirts on the floor that I took out of a drawer to make room for other shirts that I wear more often that had piled up on Allies crate...Of course, now I feel I should reduce the number of tshirts I have, but I love them as momentos of where I’ve been/what I’ve done.  A while back I came up w/ the great idea of making a quilt/throw from squares of tshirts that have the logos.  I guess I should just find myself a quiltmaker and hire them to do it b/c I’ll never get around to it, even though it seems so simple.  Cut out the squares, sew them together, add a backing and some sort of batting.  Maybe I should try to babystep my way through that!

In the mean time, I have been making my bed almost every day (not well, but making it!!!!).

I have been keeping a shiny sink and it definitely helps keep the counters clean.

And I’ve started going to the gym.  Ok, I’ve gone once.  But it felt really good!

I’m trying to convince myself to go to bed earlier, but that hasn’t been working yet.  I didn’t get home until after 7:30 last night, then needed to cool down, eat, and relax.  I did my W4 form revisions and by the time I was done w/ that, it was already after 11… yes, my relaxing included getting caught up on some DVR watching.  Since I have HDef, the DVR fills up pretty quickly.  But I really like HD…

    ‘Nuff about that!!

Busy couple of day ahead but NO PLANS THIS WEEKEND!!!! YAY!!!!

    Happy Earth Day!
I didn't get home from a late dinner until ~9pm.  Yet I was determined to work on making the MBR the oasis I deserve.
I put all of my laundry away.
I cleared off nearly all of the top of Allie's crate.
I hung up all of my jewelry, and cleared off the rest of my dresser
Then I dusted it for the first time in a very long time.  Did the front of the dresser too.
Came downstairs and shined my sink.
So I have one nice clean piece of furniture in my MBR.  Baby steps, baby steps.
I emptied a drawer in my other dresser to make more room for shirts I wear.  Now have a pile of Tshirts on the floor I need to go through.
Am not sure where I'll put my bookshelf - due to the baseboard heat on the wall I'd want to put the shelf on.  But hey.  If I can somehow clear off my other dresser tomorrow, and maybe put other things under the eaves, that would be AWESOME.  Then maybe I'd have wallspace for my bookshelf and could get my books on it!!! Go me!!

Needed to clear space in DR b/c my new bookshelves may be delivered today, and regardless or not, someone was coming to sand the tops of the base units.  So I felt a little frustrated b/c I was basically moving piles around, but did make some progress.  I:

    1. emptied 2 bookcases (good, except books are now in boxes stacked on floor)
    2. moved 1 bookcase upstairs.  Can’t put it in MBR b/c need to vacuum room and figure WHERE to put it…
    3. I also finally addressed the 2 inner-tubes that have been floating around upstairs.  Classic me – one has a slow leak.  The other one doesn’t, and to keep from getting them mixed up, I kept that one inflated.  Last night I deflated the good one and put it downstairs, and inflated the other one to test in the tub tonight.  And yes, I do have patches for it (otherwise, I’d just chuck it).
    4. Anyways, in keeping w/ zone, I spent 15 minutes picking up clumps of fur, pieces of paper, loose change, and hair ties, etc.  Baby steps, baby steps.
    5. Aha moment when I realized I can just stick small things like that in my robe pocket and it will go downstairs w/ me in the a.m.
    6. And by unloading DW last night, was easy to put the couple of stray glasses in this a.m. and feel good about the kitchen.  Sink is shiny, etc.
    7. Spent a bunch of time researching CD towers last night, so now I think I am finally decided upon entertainment center AND CD tower for my LR. J

I had such a productive weekend.  It seems like the first weekend in forever that I was home for both days, and it was wonderful.

Since the weather was nice, and I have spring fever, I focused on outdoor yardwork.  Mom was visiting and was happy to help out and go shopping with me for misc things, etc.

    So I

    1. took about 6 bags of leaves to the transfer stn
    2. took some twigs and all of the garland/wreath material that’s been sitting in a pile next to my trash for several weeks.
    3. weeded and pruned the front garden,
    4. got some pansies and planted them around,
    5. put in a couple of bulbs,
    6. researched how to reinforce my tulips and daffodils to get more bloomage next year (and bought bone meal which may have been amistake but will give it a try)
    7. I repotted a HUGE bird of paradise plant that I have (split it in to 2 pots, actually).
    8. snipped some forsythia to bloom indoors
    9. bought Adirondack chairs for deck, a big watering can, more tall wire fencing for front garden area
    10. bought reinforcements to put on coffee stand that mom uses
    11. molly-bolt type things to fix the toilet—paper holder in the upstairs BR (partially successful – only issue is that it’s not exactly flush w/ wall but it looks better than before by far.

    My sink looks good.

I need to clean up house tonight in prep for Garvey delivering shelves for DR (hopefully).

Pollen is in the air (bummer) but so is spring (yay!!!!).

Well, it's been almost 3 months...I'm clearly doing fantastically!  LOL.
I've been busy w/ work, family , & friends, and the house has come last again...
I've scratched my LR floor b/c of the grit the dogs track in, and then the rocking chair grinding it around.  Argh!!!  Enough stinkin' thinkin'!

    BUT today I got home,

    1. put on my lace up shoes,
    2. shined my sink,
    3. picked up dog toys and socks from around the house
    4. did a quick vac of the whole house (minus my guest room).
    5. Did a laundry reboot
    6. Put dishes away and loaded dishwasher
    7. put steel burner things back under burners
    8. wiped down kitchen counter

I sadly don't have many surfaces at the moment amendable to dusting, so skipped that.
I'll get my laundry put away when I go upstairs to bed.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll continue the positive trend :-)

Well, I’m still writing 2008 not 2009.  LOL.

On Saturday and Sun a.m., I did some crisis cleaning.  I shined my sink and it looks great.  And cleaned off my counter tops AND kitchen table.  My kitchen looks fabulous, and my LR, DR, and BA are presentable.

Of course, some of what I end up doing is putting junk (e.g., paper/bills/misc stuff to be dealt with) into grocery bags.  So now a lot of junk that was in the kitchen is in either the LR or in my study.  But I did manage to get through a bunch of it (adding a new toy like a paper shredder didn’t’ hurt!).  And my mom is coming on Fri so now the study has to get cleaned up.  Dare I move it back into the DR??  I will hopefully continue making bits of progress despite this tendency.  I’m sure if I were a housewife it would just seem like a job, but actually as I sit at my desk job, I feel I’d much rather be home doing that stuff.  I’m dying to tackle, among other things, my linin closet – currently towels fall out every time I open the door.  But as chaotic as it was, when I was crisis cleaning my kitchen, which included removing my Xmas tablecloth and replacing w/ a non-holiday one, I was actually able to locate that one I wanted very quickly…

Right now I’m completely stressed about work because I didn’t get any work done over the weekend (and I intended to).  But if I could get my laundry put away that would be a wondrous thing I think.  And then maybe something in my guest room (Xmas decorations/ornaments) – make a pile to Craigs List or FreeCycle.

Anyway, I’m going to get some work done now.  Glad I stopped and bought dog food on my way in to work.
