Guest: Tass Saada - The Mind of Terror: A Former Muslim Sniper Interview

    in Christianity

What motivates Islamic terrorists? What is in the mind of terror? Our news reports from the Middle East cover events?bombings, massacres, and suicide attacks. Our newscasters take time to explain who the players are?from Hezbollah to the Iranian Quds, from ISIS to the Palestinian National Authority. But there is something underneath these events and players that fuels atrocity after atrocity in the Middle East. What is it? Tass Saada provides the answer to that question as he delves into the mind of terror, explaining what motivates extremist groups throughout the Middle East. A former Muslim and a onetime sniper with Yasser Arafat’s Fatah organization, Tass has lived it himself. At age 42, he steered his life in a radical new direction, committing it to Jesus. Tass not only describes the motivations and aspirations of those who live in the Middle East, he also outlines a peaceful solution. We can plant seeds of hope that will transform not only the Middle East, but also our increasingly diverse neighborhoods at home. Discover the mind behind terror and how to oppose its grip.
Tass Saada is a former Muslim and the founder of Hope for Ishmael, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to reconcile Arabs and Jews. Born in 1951 in the Gaza Strip, Saada grew up in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He worked under Yasser Arafat as a Fatah fighter and sniper. Years after immigrating to America, he became a Christian. He and his wife, Karen, now spend much of each year in the Middle East guiding a ministry to children.

John Carver Show - It Gets in the Way!

    in Christianity

This show is from a sermon I shared on June 26, 2016 by the same title. The theme is about how King David, in the Bible, was supposed to be at war with his soldiers. Instead he stayed behind, had sex with another man's wife then had the woman's husband killed to cover his tracks. The story is found in 2 Samuel chapter 11 in the Old Testament of the Bible. It's a really long story and I didn't have time to get into all of it including the "rated R" stuff.
The bigger picture of this sermon is that you and I should be doing what we are supposed to do which will reduce the chances of giving into temptation.
I have served as Pastor of Faith Outreach Chapel, in Baltimore Maryland, since 1994. Currently, we are broadcasting on cable television in 530,000 homes.

Not Knowing How To Know God Hinders Our Purpose Now

    in Christianity

Knowing God is what we are made for; or more accurately, what we are re-made for. It is only when we continue to try to know Him on our terms, continue to do things our way, that we come to believe we can't hear Him consistently on this earth.
But God’s purpose for us now is to be in a knowing, experiential relationship with Him, and He will not let anything stand in His way. Yet if we don’t know how to know Him, we are easily distracted and deceived into settling for less than His best. First, settle it that, Yes, you do want to know Him . . . but we need our senses tuned to recognize Him, and the flesh or self doesn’t want to die! So there will be some changes that we will be actively involved in — initiated, worked into and completed by God — in order for us to truly know Him the way He wants to be known.
Intimacy with God is a pure gift — it cannot be earned or maintained by obedience or anything else, for that matter. It was given to us at the Resurrection 2000 years ago. Now we know Him from two perspectives; 1) we take the initiative in knowing God by waiting for Him; and 2) we become increasingly aware and responsive toward God as He approaches us. He is always talking to us, revealing Himself to us. We just need to have our senses tuned to Him and then not settle for what others have experienced or say is “knowing” Him.
    Religion Hinders Our Purpose Now
Our preconceived religious beliefs are some of our greatest hindrances. Generally speaking we “catch” our doctrines, our beliefs from what we hear and what we read, not necessarily from what the Lord Himself has revealed to us. So part of the process of bringing us into relationship with Him is that He brings to the surface the sources and foundations of what we believe, often by putting us into situations where those beliefs are tested.

Worship With City On A Hill Ministries - Pastor Debra Gray - 6-26-2016

    in Christianity

Is it possible to worship too much?  Probably not.  Worship service should always equip the believer to be reminded or to learn a truth of the word that will propel them in their walk with the Lord.  However a service with no worship - an individual heartfelt re-surrender of one's life in musical praise of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - misses the mark of being fully empowering.  It is only when our souls communicate with God that He is able to touch the places that need to be healed within us and make us better than we've ever been.  Find a place to worship.  City On A Hill loves you and is praying for you.
