    Red River Radio Tales from the Pages Welcomes Jackie Minniti and Susan A. Royal

    in Books

    On Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 4PM EST - 6PM host Barbara Ehrentreu welcomes new guest author Jackie Minniti, author of Jacqueline.  Having read this book I can say it is one of the most enjoyable books I have read for this age group. The story is fraught with the feelings of the time in war torn France. Set in Nazi-occupied Rennes, it tells the story of a 10-year-old French girl and the American soldier who befriends her. Jacqueline combines the drama of fiction with the authenticity of personal history in a tale of faith, family, unusual friendships, and the resiliency of the human spirit that will capture the interest of even reluctant readers and give young readers a window into history. We will be discussing what led her to write this book and her life story. In addition to being a middle grade author, Jackie has written an award winning book dealing with ADHD in education called Project June Bug.It won several literary awards including an Eric Hoffer award and a Mom’s Choice Silver Medal and was named Premier Book Awards “Book of the Year." Jackie has several stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul collections. Susan A. Royal is returning to talk about her new novel, Xander's Tangled Web, a fantasy for young adult readers whcih has gypsies, love potions and half truths. Susan has several other books for older readers, From Now On, In My Own Shadow, Not Long Ago. There may be some surprise guests as always and listeners are welcome to call in to ask questions for just to talk with the host or the authors.

    in Books

    Join us as we welcome a well know guest back to our show, "Joyce T Strand."
    Joyce will be here to chat about her new book titled, "The Reporter's Story." Which is now available for pre-order at many online retailers.

    About Joyce:
    Joyce T. Strand is the author of who-done-it contemporary and historical mysteries set in California. All of her published six novels are inspired by actual events and/or real people, although they are definitely fictionalized.
    Strand headed corporate communications at several biotech and high-tech companies in California's Silicon Valley for more than 25 years. Unlike her protagonist Jillian Hillcrest, however, she did not encounter murder in her career. Strand lives with her two cats and collection of cow statuary in Southern California, and enjoys exploring and writing about the growing wine region in the Ramona Valley near San Diego.

    About "The Reporter's Story:
    Emma Matheson is a reporter who is a bit naive.  She picks up on this suspicious burglary that has a lot more questions than answers. 1912 was the year and for many who wasn't wealthy it would seem suspicious to not claim your values. Especially values worth 8000 thousand dollars.  This very thing is what piques Emma's interest immediately.  Emma dives in and finds that while investigating what was said to be burglary isn't what it seems. Could this be the story that will make Emma Matheson a world famous reporter?
    This mystery will keep your eyes glued to the page for sure.

    Tune in as we welcome back author, "Joyce T Strand."

    Stay tuned and keep it locked.

    * * *
    A kingdom rife with rumors of the evil that lays in wait on the fringes of the woods. Fairy tales of curses, animalistic beasts, and an inhuman prince. Lady Bethel has heard the stories all her life, but what she once thought were just stories told to keep a child in line could prove to be so much more.
    The daughter of Lord Voril of Banderling, Lady Bethel spends her time following in her late mother’s footsteps, caring for the sick in the villages surrounding Banderling Mayne. While traveling home after dark, against her father’s warnings, Bethel and her guards are attacked by what she thought were wild animals, but she couldn’t be more wrong. When she awakens, she can’t remember much, but she remembers voices. Particularly one—her savior.
    Adain has taken it upon himself to hunt down the beasts that threaten the kingdom. The number of attacks grows, but he will stop at nothing to end the monsters he knows all too well. Having been in exile all his life, he must remain the faceless benefactor to Lady Bethel, despite his growing feelings, for she can never know the reality of his world.
    Tales will be told, truths will come to light, but above all, love will reign.
    Warning! Contains a deep forest retreat, death, blueberries, possible solutions, attempted kidnapping, and a birth defect with unimaginable consequences.
