When love ?? comes full circle

    in Pop Culture

What happens when love comes full circle

Dionn and I met in 7th grade back in 1989.   We were both going to the same school at Hale Jr. High in Woodland Hills, CA.  I was 13 years old, he was 14 years old at the time.  We stayed together until 9th grade at El Camino Real High School.
(We don't want to give too much away because we'll save it for the show)
But basically, life happened.  The pressures of school, parents, friends, other relationships eventually separated us.  But through it all, we never truly let each other go.
23 years later, we found each other and we'll talk about all of that tomorrow and how God orchestrated that union.
    Love you guys, Goodnight ??

MAKEING A DIFFERENCE RADIO - "ALL IN THE FAMILY"

    in Pop Culture

Tonight, we are going to discuss what defines a family.  Is it traditional, extended, adopted, by association or by choice.  What we consider family just may not necessarily be what we think it is.  So, we are going to try to answer some of the following questions:
What defines a family? Who is in my family and why? What is the difference between traditional, extended, adopted, by association or by choice? How can we be sure we are to be a part of a particular “family”?
These are just a few of what will prove to be many questions that will be asked and pray fully answered tonight.

Spoken / Unspoken #01 - Single Fathers and Suicide

    in Pop Culture

Lint opened his first episode of Spoken/Unspoken with an eye-opening look at how many father's are committing suicide due to child access issues.  Whether due to unjust treatment by the courts or manipulation by the other parent, over 21 fathers a week are ending their lives.  it's startling just how much of an issue this is!  Two organizations that are trying to support these parents are the Australian Brotherhood of Fathers and the American organization, The US Brotherhood of Fathers.  Lint ends the segment by reading published suicide letters by those who have given up the fight.
On the second half of the show, Lint gives his opinion on racism (Whiteface), Misogynism (Buzzfeed's List) and how sexuality isn't a choice.
Lint ended the show by listing off some Social Stupids; a look at just how stupid some social memes really are.

A Father's Day For Every Man

    in Pop Culture

We have a concept in the men's division (Mentor Discover Inspire - MDI): "fathering." It's the idea that men can "father" other men by being an example, holding other men accountable to their best and making sure their mentoring and guiding in no way makes the path easier or lighter for the man needing to learn the harder lessons of life.  With "Father's Day" two days out, listen in as Rick and Jim discuss fathering in all its forms, including but not limited to mentoring other men, being an example to children and being a caretaker for our actual pets!
We may also have a surprise guest or two on the show, though two dads will be receiving an invite to join us. Their people are talking to our people.
    Call in: (929) 477-3986. Friday 1 pm pst / 4 pm est.
