    Episode 21 Nancy Nelson

    in Poetry

Nancy Nelson was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, where she lived in the country, rode horses instead of bicycles, raised gardens, chickens, pigs, and bought fresh meat and fish smoking them in her family smokehouse. Nancy migrated to Las Vegas, Nevada, as a young adult, raising two daughters, Michelle and Jennifer, and is fortunate to be called Gram or Grandma to four grandchildren, Brayden, Delaney, Rachel Anne and Jack. Four years ago while enjoying her "senior" years, Nancy was jolted into medical reality  by a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's disease. She is no expert, but she does have a bit of experience plowing through the sadness, fear, and frustration of such a diagnosis. Through all kinds of emotions, she’s been able to find peace and calm and hope. Especially, hope. Nancy began waking early dark o-thirty every morning writing her thoughts, feelings, and journaling poetic verses with someone far greater than herself guiding her pen across a yellow-lined pad, and her soul uncovered before her. And she’s since published two books of poetry. She’s found solace in her writing and in her helping others. For more information, visit BlueRiverApple.com. Be sure to purchase one of Nancy’s books through her website. Her eldest daughter, Michelle, makes with love, beaded bookmarks which Nancy includes, along with her personal message and signature. She also has a blog on her website and Facebook page, Blue.River.Apple. Nancy is available for speaking engagements and has references to share. She also volunteers with several organizations, & memory care communities including, Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimers Nevada, and Cleveland Clinic. For information on AD please visit their websites:  Alz.org, AlzheimersNevada.org, ClevelandClinic.org.

One on One w/ Lady V

    in Poetry

It's that time of the week where Lady V rolls out the red carpet for our special guest of the week, as they discuss their business, brand and endeavors. This week Lady V has the opportunity to sit down and go inside the world of Makala Taylor.  Come inside the playhouse and show our special guest your love and support.
Makala Taylor has been writing poetry since the age of 13. Starting with her love of Edgar Allen Poe.  Discovering her love for verbal expression, she started writing her thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a journal.  Who knew the simple expressions of a young girl would turn into a lifetime of mental stimulation.
Makala’s book "Sweet Dreams Beautiful Nightmare" came shortly after writing a heartfelt poem for her mother's funeral.  At that time she vowed, to finish whatever she started in life and she kept that vow. Self-publishing a total of eight books,  hoping her words help those who read them.
Making progress in her passion for writing, her play on words raises eyebrows.  Breaking barriers, not being intimidated by social topics she conquers all issues from self-love to police brutality. Not stopping at poetry, she is working on a seven-part novel series; sure to get people talking.  Although her passion is poetry she has developed a T shirt line; sure to have heads turning. Being slept on for years, be prepared to be awaken.
Books available for purchase on amazon: The Good, The Bad and The Undeserving, A Phoenix Never Dies, Sweet Dreams Beautiful Nightmare, Crossing Burning Bridges, The Wettest Sheets, Spontaneous Foreplay, A Lifetime of Emotions, When the Seasons of Love Changes, Raven's Random Rants: A Year and a Half of Heaven and Hell, King and Queen of Quotes
